I think the drinking age was 18..
but btw it doesnt marrer i went to carnival victory and i meet a few people on the teen club and they told me that they meet older people and the buy them drinks..so a lot of them were underage and they still drink you just need someone older to buy it for you....

and for me i meet a really nice bar waittres and he was like attracted to me so he give me a lot of free drinks!

definitely. If you get caught, they will kick you and your group off at the next port and then you will be responsible for your own way home. They probably wont even give you your money back if that happens (its in their policy)

I did check the drinking age at the islands and it really is 18, so just wait until you get on shore. But remember, you need to control yourself or else the cruise staff can kick you off (its in their policy)

YES!!!! Carnival and all of the other cruise lines are very strict about underage drinking and do control it. They way they do it is through your cruise card. When you first board the ship at the pier they will issue you a cruise card, about the size of a credit card, which will serve as your room key, pass to get off and on the ship and charge card for anything you buy on ship. All ships are cashless and you must use the cruise card rather than money. The cruise card has all of your personal information on it including your age. So when you give your card to a bartender or waiter they will know immediately whether you are allowed by age to buy drinks.

However, the minimum drinking age in Caribbean countries is not 21 but age 18. So you CAN drink all you want in bars, cafes, and restaurants while ON SHORE or shore excursions not sponsored by the ship. You cannot drink on ship while it is docked in a Caribbean port but can on land. (by the way the US is the only country in the world with a minimum age of 21).

If you are on ship with friends who are age 21 or older you COULD ask them to buy 2 drinks when they buy theirs and you all drink well away from where a bartender who sold the drinks would see you. So grab a lounge chair well away from the pool and pool bar and have a friend go get you a beer. As long as you do not get drunk and rowdy you'll likely not be noticed.

Just like your local bar all cruise lines are strict about the drinking age. They could loose their license. Would you go to a bar that only serves soda ?

palmyrafan
They are very strict. The drinking age is 21. They are running a business and they are not about to lose their license to operate because people want to drink before that age.

Forget about trying to fake your id too. It is automatically put on your key card when you show up and they issue your key card to enter the ship. The same key card you must give when ordering drinks.
