Is it cheaper to book cruises a couple of months in advance?

You will get the very best price if you book very early and that means a year or more in advance. Then the price of the cruise started to go up and if you are booking just 4 or 5 months before the cruise you will always pay a higher price. The closer to the cruise the higher the price. The only exceptions to this is sometimes cruise lines may have specials close to the sail date to sell the remainder of the cabins which are generally the less desirable ones. You always get the best price and cabin options by booking early.

That's been my experience with the 20 cruises I have taken; have 3 more booked now (one for next year).

yes it is usually cheaper to book in advance,but last minute deals can be real good also.It depends if you have enough choices to get a deal and not get left out .A specialty cruise site is probably you best bet in either case.I would go online and check out the deals now and again in about a week.I would do this but you should book at least a month in advance.A good specialty site is: http://www.cruiseasy.joystar.com good luck

We just booked for a Chritmas cruise on priceline.com. I have found very cheap last minute deals on vacations to go.com. Hope you have a great time and happy cruising.

there are some last minute deals like when cruise ships get desperate and start selling vacant rooms at really cheap prices a day or two before their departure. Try icruise.com, or just expedia.com or priceline.com

I have cruised only one time. It was a Eastern Caribbean Cruise on Carnival in late Feb 2008. When we first started thinking about it in December, prices were staring around $629. By the time we booked it in mid-Jan, starting prices were $679. We had checked back in mid-Feb and starting prices were up to $729.

Again, this was my only cruise experience, so I don't know what other factors may have been playing into this. I would imagine pricing trends may vary depending on the season and which cruise line you are using. But in our case, it was definitely better to book in advance.

If you book about 90 days before, that is about the best you can do. Only problem is of course, your choice of cabins are limited. Try vacations to go 90 day ticker for some great deals. Also, there still may be some openings for this summer to Alaska. A princess Representative told us this.
