You're parents are stupid. Tell them I said so.
No, pirates are not going to take over the vessel.
But, it's probably best they stay home if they think that. They really probably shouldn't leave the house....Ever! |

It is extremely unlikely that anybody would attempt to hijack the cruise ship. |

I can assure you this is not going to happen.
I worked with Royal Caribbean for 6 Months, on the same cruise up and down the mexican riviera and i never ever had any problems.
It is perfectly safe to walk around especially if you dont wonder to far away from the ship it self, like if you stay within the reccomended areas.
Whilst I worked with Royal Caribbean I was only 18 and By about two months into my contract i was going places by myself.
Also if you book tours on the ship for when you get into ports they are all compleatly safe and you will have a great time.
One thing you must know is When walking around the street markets or anywhere they are selling things just learn to say no, cause they ask anyone and every one so if you dont want what there selling dont fake interest just say no.
Hope this Helps. |

Tell your parents to watch CNN once in awhile. The pirate problem is off the coast of Somalia. (That's in Africa). I've been to Mexico a few time & had a great time. Just make sure you go to restaurants that use bottled water for ice. They'll give you a list of recommended places. If they're that worried then they can book an excursion so they'll be with a group the whole time. |

mexico is very safe in the tourists areas. that is their main source of income. it is very safe to leave the boat!! No pirates either! I have been to cancun, riveria maya, cozumel, costa maya areas. Had a blast, felt safe the whole time. |

No way! I've been on a cruise to Mexico! We even went off the boat and had lunch. It was perfectly fine. People were really friendly. Plus, they have boats that follow the ship to make sure nothing happens. |

No it is not. The cruise ship's are run by reputable companies that rely on tourists (you) and your $$$$ to get you safely to your destinations.
When in Mexico (or anywhere else for that matter) don't go by yourself. Stay in crowded areas with other tourists and leave your flashy jewelry on the ship in your stateroom in the safe. If you need to, buy a simple watch and leave your best jewelry at home where you know where it is.
When you go ashore, take only what you need for that trip. Cash or credit card or both. Store in your front pocket. By keeping your wallet in your back pocket you are only inviting pickpockets. Works well at home too.
Don't give anyone your key card to the ship (you will need that to get back on) regardless of what they tell you. If you run into a problem, ask another tourist to help you or ask them to call the ship or the American Consulate on your behalf.
The warnings about Mexico right now are for only specific areas. Stay out of those areas and you shouldn't have a problem. |

in 3 weeks I'm going on a cruise to mexico and it will be fine. I was nervous because of the drug related violence but that on the boarder, hours away from ensenada. .but they have security and its like going through airport secruity so you will be safe.. just stay away from the water and maybe go on a tour through the city made bythe ship so it will be 150 percent safe.. but you will be fine.. no pirates guarenteed!! |

No that pirate thing is more out towards Somalia. But honestly don't go to Mexico. I went there and it was impossible to shop and the people hounded you all the way down the streets to buy stuff. It was pretty rough. Oh ya when your out shopping they offer you a free gift. And that is a shot of tequila so don't go into the stores when they ask you that. |
