Why can't you smoke outside on the deck? |

What ever you do, DO NOT throw the butts overboard. The areodynamics of the ship causes things thrown overboard to be blown back toward the ship. It will land on a lower balcony or deck and this causes fires. Just ask for an ashtray. |

Take the cancer sticks out on deck. No smoking in the rooms means no smoking. Have a little bit of consideration for others that may be near your cabin and have kids with allergies and asthma. |

I use to work for Carnival. They do allow passengers to smoke in their rooms. The only place you cant smoke is in public areas like the dining rooms. |

You don't have to sneak from the crew -- you ARE allowed to smoke in your cabin on Carnival. They have industrial-sized ozone machines to clean the air / carpet / furniture in between guests.
For a few years one ship was smoke-free, but that wasn't popular enough. And I guess they figured they could clean up the cabin well enough that it didn't matter.
If you're trying to hide smoking from your cabin-mate, though, you're definitely better off going up on deck!
