Is royal Caribbean's cruise lines as good as carnival's?

I like Carnival better. I know several people who sail on RCCL frequently, and from what they say, they are not as much fun. They more have more ammenities, but they do not offer things like the show in the dining room. The staff also tends to be stuffier from what I have been told.

Additionally, whenever I have booked a cruise, it is usually at elast $100 more per person for the same itinerary at the same time.

Yes! it is to be honest with you.
I was on a royal caribbean cruise for vacation and it was everything you could wish for! the service was great and the entertainment and place is awesome! the staff are really helpful and friendly and overall, their ships looks great. They have some really fun activities to offer too!

My friend went on Carnival's and Norwegian and she said she did not like it as much as the Royal Caribbean!

Go to CruiseCritic.com, "Boards" and/or "Reviews" and decide for yourself.

I've never been on Royal, partly because I keep reading that the food is not very good. Have been on several Carnival cruises over five years and the food has gone down in quality.

But there are many factors in determining which cruise line is "better" for you - and only you can decide!

I have been on 4 Carnival and only 1 Royal Caribbean. (And one Disney... forget that...)

I really liked them both.
I think that the Carnival rooms were nicer. (I have been on the Imagination, Fascination, Carnival Valor, and Carnival Pride.) I also think that the cruise directors were more entertaining and fun. I also think that the shows after dinner were better. The pools are better too.
Royal Caribbean, though, had better waiters. Ours was SO hilarious. He would always make things out of napkins. Once he made a squirrel and made it jump out of his arms... it knocked out one of my moms contacts & it fell into her coffee... but he was so hilarious. I was nine and he was so nice... he'd always cut my baked potato zig zag and cut all of my meat for me. I also think their food at dinner was a bit better, but Carnival seemed to have more options for lunch and stuff.
I'm only 15 so I can't tell you anything about the night clubs and bars, but the stuff for kids & teens on Carnival is really great.
Overall though, I think I like Carnival better. But I have been on 4 times as many Carnival as Royal Caribbean so that may be a bit biased.

I'm hoping to go on my seventh cruise in March! I want to try Princess this time. [:

Also try cruisecritic.com. My mom uses it to help pick our cruises.

i liked royal caribbean better actually. if you are looking to party 24/7 go with carnival, but personally, i like the relaxed envirment of royal caribbean better. the service is far better, as well as the food

I have been on both and found Carnivals' ships better taken care of and the service much better. I know there are many people who swear RCL is the best but from what I have experienced I would totally disagree. From the turn down service and cleaning, to the food carnival was far superior.Onboard activites were more varied and night time activites much more entertaining. I have been on Carnivals, Fascination, Elation, Triumph and Legend, and am leaving on the Pride in Febuary. I found all the ships clean and well appointed(and not once did i brush my teeth while showering , yes thats how small RCl's bathroom is)

RC all the way. I just married on the Liberty of the Seas last summer and could not have asked for a better time.

And serivce, well, I tell you...we went on an Alaskan cruise in 2000. Our waiter Chung, was fantastic.

We're eating dinner one night on our cruise last summer and guess who comes over to great us? Chung! He had switched ships and remembered us after 7 years!!!

I tell you if you want a great time and GOOD food RC is great. For those who say the food isn't good, I'm not sure what you're expecting but the quality is far superior to anything you would find in most restaurants these days.

Anyway, whatever you chose, just relax and have fun!

It depends on what you are looking for. I have found Carnival to cater more towards the young hip crowd, whereas Royal Caribbean is more family oriented, older crowd with a bit more different interests.

Renn
I went on Royal Caribbean and loved it. They have great entertainment and things to do on the ships. The alaska cruises are great...
Carnival cruises..never was on one, but they strike me as more general. They have books that rate all the cruise lines and their ships...and they probably have web sites. I would look at these things.

DCDARLING
The rooms are bigger on Carnival, and the food is better. The service was a little better on RC, but all in all i liked Carnival better, and I am in my late 20's... It really comes doen to the $$$ in my opinion--if you can save yourself some cash for the same cruise, def. go CARNIVAL!

Time travler
Consider Princess cruise lines. They are more money then Carnival, but it's the same company. You just get better food, better service, better rooms, and more diverse crowds. If you are in you 20's or 30's, you may like Carnival just fine. Lots of partying on Carnival.

As a frequent cruiser, I have found Royal Caribbean to be much better overall than Carnival.

Of the major cruise lines, Carnival and NCL are the lowest quality.
