You do feel more movement and the higher up your cabin is the more you will feel it. If this won't trouble you go for it, we were in the last cabin (with balcony) on the Bridge Deck of our ship and we did feel movement, but the upside was that we were right next to the exit to the small fan tail deck (we are smokers) and sat there every morning with our first cup of coffee of the day. It was like our personal veranda. If movement of the ship is going to be a problem go lower and more mid-ship but you would probably be unlikely to get a balcony.

It's the very best location on ship to have a room. Try to book rooms at the very back of the ship. On Holland America rooms come with your own personal balcony- which is very large. So, on days when it's extremely windy up on top you can still sit outside on your personal balcony and not be affected (to much) by the wind or weather. I would always book my rooms like that!! Enjoy!!!

I was told the back was the most rocky. But I think as long as you are not on the bottom 3 floors I think you should be ok.

The aft of the ship is a very good place. Larger rooms better balconies and less people.
I recommend RCCL Voyager class 1394, 1390, or 7388..very nice rooms!!

If you have a balcony room, the back part of the ship give you the best view, or so i think. i have been on many cruises and think that the back is the most enjoyable

At the rear of the ship you will of course be nearer the engine room. Most of the time this is not a problem, you get used to a slight humming noise and it is actually quite relaxing (I worked on cruise ships for eleven years and now have trouble sleeping in a dead quiet space...odd, I know). If you are far enough up the ship, the back is as good a place as any. I would avoid the first or second deck above the engine room.
