Is there anywhere on a cruise ship that they allow smoking?

My husband and I are both smokers. Are there places on a cruise that they allow smoking?

Yes, The cruise lines do allow smoking in designated areas. The policy varies by cruise line. But I know that on Royal Caribbean ships this is the smoking policy:

" Effective January 2008, smoking is only permitted in designated areas and outdoors on the Starboard side of the ship (contact the Guest Relations Desk for details). Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theater, hallway or corridor. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, however, it is permitted on private outdoor balconies of balcony staterooms. A $250 penalty will be applied to the SeaPass for guests found smoking in staterooms. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. "

This is from Holland America's Web site:

"For the comfort of all of our guests, designated smoking and nonsmoking areas are available in most lounges. Smoking is not permitted at any time in dining areas. Our ships do not have "nonsmoking" staterooms; however, all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each cruise to assure the comfort of our guests. All showrooms are nonsmoking during performances."

This is from Carnival:

" Guest acknowledges that Carnival’s vessels contain non-smoking sections. Guest agrees to refrain from smoking in those sections and agrees that Carnival has the right to disembark the Guest for failure to observe Carnival’s non-smoking policy. "

That enough???

Princess cruises allow smoking in the cabins/some bars/there's a smoking room and in the casino.
Carnival cruises appently have just brought in a no smoking policy anywhere on their ships

Yes, in the casinos and bars.

This varies by ship. Contact the cruise line before booking. Some ships allow smoking in staterooms and all outdoor areas. A select number of ships are completely non-smoking. Our last cruise, on the Caribbean Princess, allowed smoking on all outdoor areas on only one side. They did not allow smoking in staterooms. As for balconies, I have no idea. Asking is simple enough.

Yes, on your balcony if your room has one.

Also on deck but you can't throw the butt into the water. their are ashtrays next to the entrance back inside the ship.
