Looking to take my first cruise... need help.? |
I am looking into taking my first cruise and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what kind to take, best destinations, what cruise line etc. I would like to go for a week or more in the caribbean. This would be the first cruise for both me and my fiancee. Any recommendations would be great. I think she would prefer something that is more for adults rather than families and that would have plenty of activities. Im fine with anything really. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I have another question though. Where are the best places to get the best deals? I know that I want to go to the caribbean, I would prefer to leave from a U.S port (not san juan for example) and would like to be out for at least 7 days. The more stops the better too. I have only found a few so far that are affordable and that are within the timeframe I need (may 9- june 1) Thanks again. |

I am leaving for my first cruise in three weeks (Princess - Souther Carribean). Princess has top of the line everything, and even a relaxing area that is kids free. They have a lot of kids activities to keep them busy from running around everywhere as well. Keep in mind, if you go when school is in, there will not be a lot of children around. There are a lot of excursions to buy if you wish, but most people have complained that they are boring and catered to bring you to the "fake" vendors. If you really want an authentic visit to a port, my mother-in-law says that it is cheaper and better to ask a taxi driver to take you around town.
When speaking with a co-worker about her cruise experiences, she said that the Carribean ones were very commercial. She said the best ones are in the Mediterranean. That would be my next stop! ;^D |

My first cruise was to the eastern Caribbean with Princess cruises. With Princess you would be on one fine ship that does not have a lot of kids or drunks running around. The food is top notch and the ships are all beautiful.I shall never forget my first cruise. St Thomas was my favorite island. |

I would suggest a western or southern caribbean cruise. Those itineraries typically have less days at sea and offer more interesting ports. Royal caribbean is a great line for the active person. They offer lots of activities and have great service. |

The first cruise I went on was the Princess to Alaska. It was the best. The food, crew, scenery and everything was just awesome. You get to go see a glacier up close and the scenery is just beautiful. The second best but pretty close to the first cruise was to the Caribbean. We went to samana, St- thomas, tortola and their privet island. The only thing that was not nice is Samana because of the poverty and there are naked people walking around. And that boat was the Norwegian Dawn. Those are the best cruises I have been on. In the summer I am going to Alaska again because it was so nice and this time I am going on Holland America. I suggest going to Alaska because you can take beautiful pictures and it is once of a life time kind of thing. But if you go to the Caribbeans I would suggest going on the Norwegian Dawn. |
