Low budget but planning on going on a cruise? |
i am planning on going on a cruise with two friends, but we are very low on budget. can anyone recommend me a site/company where the cruise deals are cheap, but just as good as carnival or disney cruises? here are the conditions we must follow through:
- it can't be over about $550
- maximum 3 days (we can't miss out on school, because we are still high school seniors)
- we'd like the cruise to be around the end of may to the beginning of june, especially on weekends
- not alaska (we know it's cheap, but we'd like to go somewhere warm :) ) Additional Details another condition: we live in bergen county, new jersey (near new york city), so the departure location is important |

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only

All cruise lines except Carnival require that at least one person in each cabin be age 21 or older and Carnival requires at least one person age 25 or older. So you do have to find a person age 21 or older to go with you AND you and each of your friends will be required to have a permission slip signed by your parents in order to board the cruise.
So if you can find an adult and also get your parents' permission in writing, here's what I suggest.
Norwegian Cruise line does one and two day cruises out of New York city mainly in September and it will cost about $200 for each of you for the one day cruise. Check this web page: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruisesearch/cruisesearch.html |

You have to be 21 on some cruises and 25 on others. So unless you take a older person with you, no can do. |

Royal Caribbean has 3-4 night Bahamas cruises for under $550 that leave out of Florida (Miami or Port Canaveral). Royal Caribbean cruises are also better than Carnival or Disney, the aren't as children oriented so you might not have as many kids running around, screaming. I booked one for September and the customer service was great. The boats are also really nice. You can find more information on royalcaribbean.com. Hope I helped!
Sorry didn't see the age thing: if you are under 21 you need to have someone with you-maybe one of your parents is willing to go? |

I think most cruise lines want you to be 21 or over to travel with them and I believe for Carnival it's 25 or over.If you can find a person of that age to go with you (like an older cousin or something) that would be great.
There are some cruise that leave form NY through Carnival and Norweigen (sp.) for around your range check out those websites. |

My friends wanted their children in another room and they just put down that their daughter was 21. No big deal. You could probly take a great "Cruise to nowhere" 1-2 nights by Carnival. Or you could go to Bermuda maybe? If you fly then you have already about a 300 flight plus taxi to the port! |

It isn't Expedia that requires passengers to be 21 or over - that is the cruiselines rule. It's the rule in order to prevent irresponsible, "party-hearty" kids from ruining other passengers' trips.
BTW - Alaska cruises are not cheap - and they are almost always at least seven days long. And in three days, you wouldn't be able to get to "someplace warm" and back from New York/New Jersey. |
