Well heres what I've done in the past. Works great.

Go to each individual cruise line directly. The major ones are Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Carnival, Princess, Holland America, MSC, Costa, and Norwegian.

Destination wise usually the Caribbean during Hurricane season is when you'll get a great price. Its a little more risky but the cruise lines work around storms and keep the passengers out of danger.

Then go to travel sites like Travelocity, Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, Side Step, etc etc.

Now see what prices you come up with for a particular cruise, once you have one in mind, call the cruise line directly. They have great customer service people and they can match or beat other cruise lines prices and they can get you great deals at time, and sometimes you can get free upgrades and stuff with your purchase.

I would definitely book airfare yourself though. It saves you lots of money. Also go down the day before because you dont want to miss your cruise ship because of flight delays and cancellations. It usually just works out better to go down the day before. For the return flight always book after NOON. That is the earliest you would want to book a flight because you dont know if the ship will get in late or what time you'll get off, but noon is still pushing it. I usually opt for a 1:00 to 2:00 pm flight or late afternoon/early evening. Works out better for me.

Most of them only show you cruise fare. The rest of the figures will bring you up $200 to $350.00 more per person. The best prices I've seen are at vacations to go or Costco. Both are full fledged travel agents and both have great deals.
