My friends and I want to go on a cruise by ourselves for a senior trip 3 of us will be 18, 1 will be17 can we?

My friends and I want to go on a cruise by ourselves for a senior trip, 3 of us will be 18 and one will be 17 will we be able to book it?

I know there are rules about age restrictions, and when I search online it continues to mention things about staterooms (and how were restricted in them) I'm not sure what they are referring too.

Cruise line age rules
Minimum unaccompanied minor age is 21 or older; no guest under the age of 21 will be reserved in a stateroom (what is that) unless accompanied by an adult 21 years or older. This age limit will be waived for minor children sailing with their parents or guardians in adjacent staterooms or for under age married couples (proof of marriage is required). In the case where two parents or adults (adults considered 18+?) are traveling with minors, (more than one stateroom) RCI strongly suggests that both parents or adults be booked on the same deck, with cabins adjacent or in the same vicinity.

When booking cruises Adults are considered 18+ but this mentions something about being 21. Can anyone help shed some light on this. Would we be able book this?

That means that every cabin (your cabin is your room where you sleep and keep your clothes and things; everyone must have a cabin because you cannot just pay to go on the ship and roam around wherever you want) must have at least one person who is age 21 or older (age 25 or older for Carnival). The purpose of that is to have a person who under the law is considered an adult and who can and will be responsible for the persons in their group who are under age 21.

Then if, for example you and five of your friends want to cruise and you are all under age 21, then one persons who is age 21 or older (mother, father, sister, brother aunt, uncle, friend or any of you) can book the cruise for all of you and since the cabin will hold only 4 people normally and you have six or seven people then they will let you have that one person oversee all of you cruising in two cabins side by side or across the hall from each other.

So you need someone age 21 or older to book the cruise and also go along as a chaperoned. In addition, each of you would have to have a signed and notarized permission letter to present to the cruise line to show that your parents have consented to you cruising with the person who is the chaperon. Its not a difficult thing to do just more paperwork.

IN ADDITION, if you are planning to cruise after your senior school year in the summer of 2009, then each of you will also need a passport. You can print the passport application from the US State Department's Passport Office web site: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

That web site contains all of the information you need to get a passport.

Cruise lines want someone in your cabin that is 21 yrs old at least. Some cruise lines also say there has to be someone who is 25 yrs old

I would contact the cruise lines for their specific rules.

best of luck on your senior Trip.

You may not go unles you have an adult 21 and older accompanying you, however, some cruise lines (Carnival) allow military personel under 21 to travel alone and to accompany other minors. Check to see if any of your friends served in the military.

PS. Some cruise lines will allow you if you are traveling together (with friends or family).

You have to be 21 or if you ara marriage and have proof of it under 21.

Dan
Cruise lines insist that you have to be 21+ to be in charge of a room. If you 4 want to go on a cruise you will have to find two 21+ to go along, as 5 will not fit in one room, so you will have to occupy 2 rooms, with one 21+ in EACH room, since you are not minor children traveling with your parents.

To cruise lines, 18 is NOT adult. You have to be over 21.

Regards,
Dan
