To include facts, information, tips/advise and other funny comments. Kind of like a "First Time Cruiser" book.
Thanks!

My daughter makes "scrapbooks" of all our trips. Send me your email address and I will see if I can put together some information, hints, etc. If you let me know what cruise they are taking I might be able to get you photos of the specific locations they are visiting.

Great Idea. There are various ways of getting the sort of thing you need. First you can go to a site such as www.cruise.co.uk and look at the Berlitz Guide for the ship and include that. there are also forums on www.holidaytruths.co.uk and www.cruisecritic.co.uk which have a wealth of personal information, I think some of them have photos too. Your parents could check out the 'roll call' section for their cruise on cruise critic and arrange to meet and greet other cruisers.

Hope they have a wonderful time

I say go to your local travel agency get pamphlets about different cruises. Also, go to different cruise lines websites on them they have some do & don't and what to wear/pack etc and different things to do. If you can find your parents itenary I would suggest getting information on the places they will be visiting. You can google the place and mostly likely be able to find tons of information. Add pictures of the ship, maybe a picture of the kind of room they might have and pictures from the places they will visit. Be sure to include the kinds of food/drinks they will most likely have in the places they are visiting. Oh yeah include excursions they would be able to take. You can get that from the cruise company website and/or when you visit the destinations' websites.

Hope this helps you

Great idea
Helpful phrases and ships 'lingo' would be great to include like
Portside- Lefthand side of the ship all even numbered cabins will be on this side. Tell them to remember it by LEFT=4 letters and PORT=4 letters!
Starboard- Righthand side of ship, all odd numbered cabins will be on this side.
Forward=Bow
Aft/rear=Stern
You could also include sayings and proverbs that started on ships many moons ago... Like Brass Monkeys and Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion
There is a great book by the Captain of QE2 called With a Pinch of Salt. ==Captain Nick Bates. Check it out

Hope this helps

Try to get hold of a Berlitz book called "Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships" by Douglas Ward, who is reckoned to be the World's foremost authority on cruising.
Your library may have a copy or I noticed that The Works bookshop is selling the 2005 edition for a fiver.
The opening chapter is: "Why take a cruise?"
It simply tells you everything there is to know about cruising, describes all the Cruise lines and all their ships and what to expect on each of them.
You could make an encyclopaedia out of the information in there, perhaps do some photocopies.

Great idea!
Make things easy for yourself! go to www.cruise.co.uk , they do a Complete Cruise Brochure which covers everything! Handy hints and tips, from what to wear and what to tip, its a great starting point that covers all cruise lines and definately pointed me in the correct direction with what to book!

The Savvy Guide to cruises is actually designed exactly to help first time cruisers, so it might help you:
http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide

There are two sections that might be of particular interest:

Introduction to Cruises - Kind of a "Cruise 101", it explains why people cruise, what life is "really like" on a cruise (there's a description of a typical day), has an FAQ covering stuff like how to avoid getting sea sick.
http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide/introduction_to_cruises

Know Before You Go - Has a packing checklist, tips on staying healthy onboard, advice on shore excursions.

Feel free to contact me through my Yahoo profile if you need any help. Sounds like fun!

What a great idea. You can go to a travel agent and pick up pamphlets from them on cruises and cut out pictures for your book. here is a story about a cruise I went on last year about crossing the equator. They have a party when you cross the equator and ask for volunteers. They have a parade of sorts and then take each volunteer to a chair and accuse them of something silly like having too much fun or over eating. They then dump spaghetti on them or tomato sauce, or chocolate, or what ever they have left over in the kitchen. They they jump into the swimming pool. After some of the crew also gets inigiated with the same thing, they go into the pool too. So by now the pool is full of yukky people and food stuff. Afterwards, they get drain the pool, clean it all sparkly again and refill it. This is all done in about 2 hours time. So the moral of this story, is don't volenteer for anything unless you know what you are getting into. The volenteers all had fun though.
