I'm leaving on Friday, Oct 31 on Carnival Elation to LaPaz, Cabo and Ensenada. This will be my 5th cruise on Carnival. I love this cruise line. The Elation is a little older. It is due for refurbishment soon, but you really can't beat the cost. Most of the food, entertainment, pools, hot tubs are free. Casino ($$) are available, but I don't waste my money. You can buy excursions or you can just get off the ship and explore on your own. I'm taking the Wine Tour in Ensenada...its very reasonably priced. Anyway, check out Carnival.com. If you're military or retired military, you get an awesome discount with Carnival. You will NOT be bored. There are many different clubs and bars on board if you like to party or you can play bingo with the senior crowd (not free). IF you want to just chill on the deck and read a book, you can do that too. I have never been bored. To me, its one of the best all inclusive vacations you can take.

Enjoy yourself and good luck!!

some restaurants have an extra charge, but you dont' have to go to them.
"most" of the food is free. Your stateroom and some entertainment is included in your ticket cost.
what is not included is": spa treatments, alcoholic beverages, soda, shore excursions, transfers to and from the ship to airport.
go to cruisecritic.com to find out more about cruising.

I would put a swimsuit in just in case., there are hot tubs available.
have a great time.

I went on a cruise during Christmas with my family and it was very fun. They have 24 hour buffets that are free, nice dinners, ice cream, pizza all free. You do have to pay for beverages. Their are lots of activities on Carnival, they have comedy clubs, dance clubs, parties on the deck at night. And when you get off on the stops their is sightseeing and activities that you can do but I think have to pay for.

You won't be bored. You may be overwhelmed, but not bored. Most of the food is free - including room service (hooray!) but sometimes they have "specialty" things that are not free. Some places have a fancy restaurant or a candy shop etc. Also, alcohol and soda is not free. Carnival is a good cruise for 28 year olds, especially if you like to party or are really active.

Mexico is a great place to visit if you like Mayan ruins. They have some really interesting stuff.

Edit: Yes, bring a suit. There should be opportunity to swim. I've done Mexico in December, and there were plenty of people enjoying the pool.

Cruises are great. I love Carnival. January is a great month b/c all the kids are in school so for the most part it is kid-free. As to if your husband and you will be bored, that depends on your personality. There are tons of things to do on ship. Depends on what ship you are going on but they have games like the Newlywed Game, Bingo, Sports Trivia, and then a spa and an art auction. My husband and I usually spend most of the time laying out by the pool though. That's our favorite part. A waiter dropping by and bringing drinks. I love it.

Pros and cons as compared to what? A cruise is one of the cheapest vacations. You wake up at a different place each morning. All the food is included but bar drinks (which includes soda) are not. There is sooo much food to eat. You have usually 17 different places to eat on ship--pizza place, sushi, deli, a main "lunch" room, a grill by the pool for burgers, and then a nice dinner in the dining room or you could stay in and order room service (also free though always very very slow).

My husband and I love cruising. It's our favorite form of vacation and we are your age. You can pick and chose what you want to do and what you want to see. Write if you have any more specific questions.

Also check out cruisecritic.com for reviews of the individual ship and the ports of call you are thinking about going to. It has up to date reviews from people who just took it.
