What we are trying to figure out is, if that online thing says you have to pay a certain deposit( like $300)...Do you have to really pay that or can you pay whatever you can put down when you call in to the specialist line. Or should I just call them and tell them what I can put down as long as I pay the remainder when the due date comes....? |

The down payment amount is the minimum that you must pay to book the cruise. You can put down any amount above that. On our last cruise, we put down half when we booked. If you're looking pay less than the deposit minimum, watch their website closely. They often run specials where you only have to put half the amount of the original minimum deposit down.
Another suggestion is to hold onto your money. Tuck it in a savings account until a few weeks to a month before the cruise that you want to take and check the prices then. Most cruises don't fill all the way up, especially with the current economy, and they'll drastically reduce the prices to try to fill up the ship.
One thing that's for sure - You're chosing the best cruise line in my opinion. |

The $300.00 is the minimum to hold your booking. You can put down more than that not less. |

No, if they say a certain amount of deposit that is what you have to pay. Consider whether you can afford this (trying to be helpful not nasty) cruise as your on board account can mount up quite alarmingly. Perhaps you can find a shorter/cheaper cruise that would not give you any financial problems in the short term. Hope you get away on a cruise and have a lovely time. |

Minimum deposits are required deposits. All cruise line cabins are sold based on double occupancy, at least two people cruising and the minimum deposit will be $250 to $350 for each person, depending upon the cruise line and length of the cruise. So if you will have 3 or 4 people cruising in your cabin you MUST pay the minimum deposit for each person, infants and children included.
The initial deposit holds your reservation and after that you can make periodic payments of any amount at any time. The final payment for all persons on your reservation will be about 65 days before your sail date. It does not matter whether you use a travel agent, book online, or call the cruise line; same rules apply.
Once you have made a reservation you can use your reservation number to register on the cruise line web site and manage your reservation, including making payments using your credit card. |
