I absolutely hate NCL. On my cruise, the ship was so ancient the bottom two floors didn't even have carpet. We felt like Titanic 3rd class passengers. They have far less food than any other line--I was hungry the whole time. The staff was far worse than Carnival or RC. The room sizes are about 1/2 or 1/3 of the average Carnival room size. You couldn't open the bathroom door without the other person climbing back on the bed. Honestly if you've done RC and Carnival, NCL just can't hold a candle to them.

The ships are just so old and not sanitary at all. My aunt did the one around Hawaii and most of the ship had food poisoning from the 2nd night. Most of the ship was sick for 3 of the 7 nights. She's never taken another cruise.

However to be fair--there are those who like NCL. They like it b/c on their other cruises they hate eating at the same time every day and hate having to socialize with their tablemates. NCL you don't see the same people at dinner and they have lots of tables for two.

I took one NCL cruise and would never ever take another one. It was my very first cruise and I thought it was fairly bad but there were tons of multiple cruisers on there who kept telling me over and over again that Carnival and Royal Caribbean were sooo much better. If it hadn't been for all those comments, I probably wouldn't have ever cruised again.

Frankly the money savings really isn't worth it. If you just price shop you can easily find a Carnival ship that's about the same. Cheaper does not make it worth it. Everything you have heard is true and soo much more. I can't see why anyone under the age of 50 would like NCL--it really is that bad.

They are great. I personally like Royal Caribbean the best, I have done Carnival, but Norwegian holds their own against the two. They have rock climbing walls and all the other activities that the rest do. Give them a shot, whats good is they are a newer cruise line and are evolving for the better quickly.

Google cruise reviews and you will come up with websites that have reviews on all cruise lines. You need to learn to read 'between the lines' as some people complain about the silliest things i.e. when we checked for a recent cruise we took a reviewer said he 'didn't like the curtains in the cabin and the cabin armchairs were hard' ???

I've been on three NCL cruises. I personally like Royal Caribbean better, but I really don't have any major complaints about NCL. I just think Royal Caribbean has more of a fun environment. The ships I've been on were all new and very nice. There are so many dinner options too which is nice. With Royal Caribbean, I didn't like that we had to make reservations for dinner every night if we wanted to go out. All in all, I would say give it a try. I hated Carnival, so if you liked that then you should love NCL.
