is it a small bost or a large ship ?
please advise, their is a vast difference.

The easiest and most economical way to stop sea sickness is to walk. This is what is meant by getting your sea legs. When you walk around a moving ship the fluid in your inner ear learns the motion of the ship in a controlled way. When you feel sea sickness coming on walk, walk, walk. The worst thing you can do is take to your bed. Lying down will make your nausea worse. Once your body becomes accustomed to the motion you will no longer feel ill and will be able to sit and lie down when you want to.

Another drug free way to curb your motion sickness is by wearing a Sea Bands bracelet. The bracelet has a small bead on the inside that puts pressure on the inside of your wrist. This is a pressure point that will reduce nausea. Children and pregnant women can use Sea Bands as there are no side effects to this method. They are available at most drug stores. Buy these before you leave home and put it on before boarding the ship to be safe.

The use of ginger can help to reduce the nausea part of sea sickness but not the dizziness. Other herbal remedies have been tried but not scientifically proven to work. Staying above deck and getting fresh air will go a long way to normalizing your inner ear.

Cabin location can also be a factor in how much motion you feel while trying to sleep. Select a cabin that is in the middle of the ship both horizontally and vertically. If you pick a middle deck you will feel less motion from the sea and if you are close to the center of that deck you will feel less vibration from the engines and under workings of the ship.

Sail on a ship that has stabilizers. All of the newest mega liners have stabilizers that help minimize the rolling of the ship back and forth. Consider sailing on a ship that uses the Azipod propulsion system. All of the Carnival Cruise Lines ships have them. This system pushes rather than pulls the ship through the water which reduces motion and creates much less vibration. It also has the added benefit of allowing sharper turns for the ship without causing a lean.

Medications such as Dramamine or Gravol decrease nausea. You don't have to buy these at home as they are available on the ship at the pursers desk where they are usually given out free of charge. Unfortunately these drugs can make some people drowsy which does not make for an exciting cruise experience.

Ear patches work wonders to get rid of sea sickness. The trans dermal scopolamine patch is about the size of a dime and is worn behind the ear. It's effects last about 72 hours. This patch must be applied 8 hours before boarding the ship or you'll be playing catch up later. The trans dermal patch does have side effects ranging from drowsiness to dry mouth.

Even the astronauts from NASA have problems with motion sickness so you are not alone now are you weak and frail. Go on and book your cruise with peace of mind because now you'll be like me and everyone else who is openly addicted to cruising.
hope this helps have a great time

Are you on a large cruise ship? It's very stable. There may be a slight feeling of something weird as you're walking.

The weirdest part for me was rocking back and forth after I got off the ship. You automatically adjust to the rolling of the ship and don't stop doing this immediately after the ship docks. A bit of advice. If possible get a berth as close to the middle or midships as possible, and at as low a deck as possible. This is the most stable place on a ship in rough water and may help reduce the possibility of seasickness.

Ill guess that this preatty much vary by the weather. I mean if you are on a calm sea in Carebian it will feel as being ashore more or less. If you stay at a window or on a promenade you can see the sea or the shoreline passes by. Most of the days will be spent in the port however.

But if you sail somewhere where its stormy or so then youll feel that youre aboard a ship. It will move and at some it will create seasickness. If youll in cold water youll also feel that the speedwind make it cooler outside than its when the ship isnt moving.

If youre unceartain about anything feel free to ask. Theyre there because that you have paid theyre salary with your ticket price. And no question is to stupid to ask, well maybe the one if the crew sleeps at the ship or not... (they do!) Good luck and relax, youre on holiday! Johan

usually the ships are big and stable but some people still get motion sick...u also might feel a little wobbly for a little bit when u first get on and take off from the dock
HAVE AN ENJOYABLE TIME

To start, I'm the type of person to get sick over nothing. I went on my first cruise when I was five and didn't get sick. I'm now 14, been on 15 cruises, and still have never gotten sick.

I don't think that it has anything to do with age, I think it depends on the person. Just don't say that since I get sick a lot, I'm going to get sick on the cruise. that's not true.

You definitely do feel the ship moving, but definitely not in a bad way. You obviously have to expect to feel it moving. It's not a big motion at all, it's pretty cool.

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions feel free to send me a message!! =))

Oh, and i'm going on a cruise in August also. Which one are you going on?

I don't know how big a ship it is, but I went on one and I was fine. Not everyone is so don't forget your motion sickness pills. Do some walking around though. At first it feels like your not steady on your feet but you'll get used to it. It's a lot of fun. Then when you get off you have to learn to walk on land again. lol

It depends upon the waves and the size of the ship. If there's a storm you may feel some rocking, but ships nowadays are so big that they won't even rock. Carnival's Destiny will rock in big waves. What's it feel like...you get this sensation that you're moving while you're sitting say at the table. It didn't bother me or most of the people I was with, but yes, it did some. Bring along some motion sickness pills just in case. More important, have fun! I doubt you'll feel anything different then when you do while sitting at a table in your own home.

take some motion sickness meds with you. i didnt think i needed it but i was wrong! the movement is small and suttle but enough that it may make you kind of dizzy. i only really felt it when i was sitting down. if i was up moving around i was fine. other than that it was a great time.
