OK. NEED ADVISE! Should I still go on my cruise to Mexico?

So we have a cruise planned for 7 nights to Mexico. This saturday (May 2, 2009....Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, & Mazatlan) and we dont know what to do because of the Swine Flu. Should we reschedule? Can we reschedule? What should we do?! Help Please!

And i know that it might be safe on the ship, But what if we want to go on some shore excursions? And i just called The cruise line and they said we cannot cancel.

I would go, even if there wasn't the Swine flu there is always a risk of getting sick, even if you stay home.

It really doesn't matter if you get off the ship or not, all it takes is one person to get off the ship, get sick, and bring it back on the ship.

Seriously thought don't let the flu ruin your vacation I hope you go and have lots of fun. Nothing you ever do is safe, there is always a risk in everything. You could get into a car accident on the way to the ship, you could decide to stay home and get sick there. I would say your risk on going is really really low. If it was that serious you wouldn't be allowed to go to Mexico for fear you would bring it back.

Just take vitamins, drink lots of fluids, bottled water not Mexican water, and use hand sanitizer, keep your distance from people

they are saying not to go to mexico righ now they have 149 deaths right now i would call and reschedule

I'm also going to Mexico on a cruise in July. I've called the cruise line to cancel and they are belittling the whole thing including the drug cartel violence along with the swine flu. All these cruises want is to make money and don't care about passengers well being. The State department is telling US citizens not to go to Mexico. Carnival Cruise lines will not refund my money, they suck. Even the Airlines are giving refunds.
Even if you stay on the ship and not go into Mexico, other passengers will go into Mexico and can get the flu and bring it back on the ship!

Hey.. I dont know what I would do in this situation. I just got back from that same cruise (You are going on the Carnival Splendor right?) and it was the best cruise I have been on. The good thing was is that we left and got back a week before this whole swine flu started. If you cant cancel, just go, but be extra cautious. And for "pinky" with the other answer...duh.. obviously they cant refund your money within a weeks time because of all the preparation. Airlines are so much different. I have family members that work for airlines and they say the exact same thing. Oh and by the way Pinky, its not just Carnival that does it, a lot of the others do too ;) go ahead and try to cancel with them too.
oh by the way, not to be mean or anything, but its advice, not advise

I think you should if you really want to and if you cant at all the rest of the year. Bc if you do go, you should just wash your hands alot, and there is this great type of medicane that helps prevent a cold called Zicam. It works great. Hope this helps

Oh, cool, I'm going on the same cruise, only in June.
Basically, I'm going to wait and see. As of yet, it doesn't look too bad. They have medicine for it. Plus, if you are really worried, you can stay on board! I don't know if you've been on a cruise before, but trust me, you won't be bored.
I think that you'd be missing an amazing vacation and wasting money if you didn't go. Go for it! Have fun, and wash your hands!!!

I have not heard f any reported cases in those places. As far as rescheduling, you would have to call the cruise line and ask. I would go.
