On a cruise, if I get a room on the deck below the "party" floor, will I hear that all night long?

By party, I mean the deck with all the bars and such. I just want to be able to sleep at some point and I have no idea how much sound travels between floors. Any and all info is appreciated!

Well, we had a room with the basket ball court on top of us and we did hear it if they were super loud, but chances are you are going to be fine. The rooms are pretty sound proof. To be honest, I have stayed in just about any room they offer on the ships and the noise is minimal but the same everywhere. When you book your room tell them you do not want a room next to the "flusher". On the ships they have a bunch of rooms on the same line and if someone throws something in the toilet that does not belong and you happen to be on the end it will back into your room. So, make sure not to get that room... besides that you should be able to sleep. If it is noisy you will eventually get too tired to stay up anyway... its a "poopy room" you want to avoid. Any other cruise questions feel free to email me, Ive gone on 9 now and also got married on a ship so I know pretty much how all of this works. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!!!!

Nope - the only thing you will hear is the sound of the ocean if you are wise enough to get a balcony cabin!! It is so wonderful - put you right to sleep.

No rooms that put out alot of sounds like the clubs and so on are sound proof to other areas of the ship

no you will not. I have been on 5 cruises and have never heard anything at night what is up above me only what is in front of my door like people walking to their rooms and being loud not music from the nightclub

Cabins below the Lido deck can be noisy. At night, the deck hands clean the pool areas and move tables and deck chairs around. The dragging creates a lot of noise on your cabin's ceiling.

Many times after you've booked, the cruise line will "upgrade" you to a higher deck at no charge. That "upgrade" puts you in the noisy zone.

I've cruised over 50 times. The worst ships for this are Carnival Spirit/Pride/Legend/Miracle. Avoid Panorama deck mid-ship.

Our friends cabin was under the theater and they were bothered by the music from the shows. But with the exception of the night they had the midnight comedy show, most shows end long before midnight.

You want to avoid rooms that are too close to the elevators. There is a ton of mechanical and people noise all of the time.

This includes the inside staterooms that back up to the service elevators. We had a room on the inside for on an Royal Carribean cruise and could not get any sleep because the service elevator noise. Especially the last night of the cruise when they were moving all of the luggage for de-barkation.
