My wife was a travel agent for years and she always gave her clients the same advice about packing. "Put everything you think you are going to need to pack on your bed and then pack half of that." |

All have good points.
1. Lay out 14 days of clothes and pack 1/2. There are too many people on board to notice or care what you wear.
2. You'll probably have 4 formal nights on board. If you're a female pack for two and just keep switching off, or if you're 2 females lucky enough to wear the same size, each bring 2 outfits and switch off. Best if each of you only needs one pair of shoes for all outfits. If you're a male, bring a nice, dark suit and several ties for variety. If you want to rent a tux, you can rent 7 bring one from home (cheaper) or you can rent one on board (expensive and may not have the size or style you'll need)
3. Take a large suitcase, a larger carry-on, and a backpack (large book bag). If female, pack the backpack with purse items. Include any liquids or gels needed on you're flight in one 1-qt zip-loc bag. All items must be in containers marked 3 oz or less and put them on top. Also include any jewelry, medications, and at least one change of clothes in the backpack if possible. Gives you more packing space than a purse. then use backpack as beach bag at pool or beach or on shore excursions. Keeps hands free while shopping and carries your purchases.
Swimsuit, PJs, change of clothes, shoes, and, if it fits, a formal outfit in your carry on. The other clothes and toiletries in your checked luggage. Put toiletries into individual zip-locs, put those into your toiletries bag, then put the toiletries bag into another plastic bag (trash bag, plastic grocery bag, etc), and tie it up before you pack that into the checked luggage with your clothes. Nothing's worse than having your clothes covered with shampoo!
3. I use the plastic vacuum travel bags - they're great. Lay slacks/skirts folded to fit the length& width of bag, stack clothes on top and slide everything into the bag. Don't need a vacuum - seal the bag and sqeeze the air out of it. Might need more than one bag, but it keeps the clothes togehter, avoids wrinkles, and gives you more room in your suitcase.
4. Pack 2 swimsuits - sometimes they don't dry overnight.
5. Check with cruise line if they have washers on board. Do the wash on days at sea or during a meal. If they have washers on board there will always be a huge demand.
6. Disposable underwear. Buy the 6 pair for $5 pack at a discount store and simply dispose of the panties/briefs after wearing them. Less space and weight when you return & more room for souveniers.
7. Disposable toiletries - shampoo, razors, deodorant, etc. Just throw away them away - used or not- at the end of the cruise. Again eliminates weight and adds space.
8. Make a list and check it off. Best idea.
9. If you forget something, the stores on board usually have what you'll need, but be prepared to pay a premium. |

Remember -- Mix and Match ... a Formal Skirt and a couple of Formal Shirts goes a very long way ... then for the rest when you are on the cruise there are laundry services available ... so you do NOT need to pack over much. I would recommend one pair of comfortable walking-type shoes, and for the rest all you need is one pair of good shoes for the formal (or a pair of sandals -- either or). I wore mostly my comfortable Jeans, a nice shirt, and just was able to relax ... |

I have a large duffel bag - it fits under the bed and holds even my formal wear. I also have a cruise suitcase that opens in half and holds everything. I've been gone for as long as 21 days and always had enough. Remember you can wash clothing, so don't pack for 14 days, only pack for 10 at the most. Men need a formal outfit they can rent on board. Women bring skirts and tops and you have it covered. Hope this helpsl Also, anything you might forget can be purchased on board! |

Ohh i got really excited when I saw this question, as I was going to say put him in a small crate with no air holes and send him to the ends of the earth .. then I realised you werent talking about Tom .. so all I can suggest is a list .. break it up into essentials such as clothes .. hygiene .. beauty etc and make sure you have every item and tick them off as you go, sounds silly i know but it is actually quite handy. Oh and dont roll your clothes, fold them neatly because despite what you think it will add extra weight. |

Wake up one morning and take note of everything you use or need to use in a given day. Put it on the suitcase and then ask yourself if you can live without it for 2 weeks. |

Most 1 wk cruises have 2 formal nights so pack something appropriate for that. Also rather dressy at night. No tanktops or khakis allowed in the dining room. But even in the winter it will still be very hot in most of the islands. Shorts and tanks for the day--if you are in the Bahamas I'd carry long sleeves. Carry something with sleeves in case you get sun burned. But most importantly don't overpack. you will be buying souvenirs--and you have to fit those in the suitcase too. One suitcase, one garment bag. Anything you can't fit in that, stays home! |
