Plzzz help EMERGENCY!!! REGARDING EITHER I DONT GO OR I AM TO MY CRUISE!!?

well my son birth certificate came up... problem is...
a) he change his name so we got a document that states he change his name...

b)all the city offices in Boston are closed..my cruise leaves THIS SUNDAY

c)his b-certificate is photo copy.. we cant use that....

d) his passport expired on march 17,07

the guy from ncl opinion is too "bring as much information as possible". thats means bring the document that states he change his name then back up that with my passport that backs up by the copy b-certificate. so the documents are backed up would i deny boarding?

this is an emergency...
Additional Details
well he is 14 and are the customs forgiven ??

The problem really isn't getting on the ship or getting off the ship at the various cruise ports, the problem will be re-entering the US. Since he is a minor and your son they will probably accept our word backed up by the various supporting documents. Be sure he has a State ID card with him as well. Good luck.

When you go on a cruise you need to prove citizenship and identity. Both the expired passport AND the copy of the birth certificate prove citizenship. The expired passport can be used to prove identity. You have some way of providing identity, some type photo ID card; driver license, school ID, work ID. Take all of that.

You will likely be able to board but only the cruise line can answer that in final. I also suggest that you get to the departure port very early, like no later than noon, to give everyone plenty of time to resolve the issue.

i would see what you can do to get a birth certificate (why dont you have the original) they can be lenient getting on the ship (although they are getting pickier each time ) but customs getting off may be a problem...good luck

I would suggest calling the cruise line to see what kind of bearing this will have if any. Also, I don't know how close you are to a passport office, but some are open on Saturdays like the one in Washington, DC. I'm not sure if Boston has one that big or not that would accept his birth certificate and issue a passport but try calling them this morning ASAP! If not, look for a sitter. I hope it works out for you.

NCL is pretty good on their help (except in the excursions desk onboard). I would go for it. My thought is that you've invested the money, give it a try.

You don't mention the age of your son...is he a minor? They may be more lenient with documents for a child, so absolutely bring EVERYTHING that you have, including the expired passport. But wow, why did you wait until the last minute before making sure all your documents were in order? Maybe you should bring a babysitter (or arrange for one) in case they don't let your son board. I wish you luck! Please let us know how it worked out.
