I have been on three (3) Princess cruises and about eight (8) Royal Caribbean cruises. In my experience there are not a lot of differences. Both cruise lines have great ships, ones that I would go on again in a minute. Their ships have great features with adults only areas and kids areas. The biggest difference in their ships is the Royal Caribbean ships, mainly their ships launched since about 1999, have many more on-board activities for passengers. Royal Caribbean has the rock climbing wall, the ice skating, the roller blading track and the surfing simulator on the new RC Freedom Class ships. Princess does not have any of these on any of its ships. They both have other activities like multiple pools and hot tubs, basketball/tennis court, mini-golf and/or a golf simulator and the deck games like shuffle board.

I think the service on both cruise lines is good but Princess is just a tad bit better. Also on the Princess cruises we went on the food was good and about the same as Royal Caribbean, but Princess tended to be more into food "presentation". By that I mean presenting a dinner plate that looked pretty as well as tasting good. It was more like cuisine than just a meal.

I would go on either cruise line again but I tend to go on Royal Caribbean more because I get cruise club benefits, and because I find Royal Caribbean's web site easier to use to find cruises that I like. I think the prices of cruises on both cruise lines are pretty much comparable otherwise.

Another difference in my opinion is Royal Caribbean is (to me) has more friendly passengers. Many of the passengers on Princess appeared to be kinda snooty. We have met and made many more friends on Royal Caribbean ships than we did on Princess ships.

They're both great Cruise lines I would decide between the 2 based on the Itinerary and price. You won't be disappointed with either line.

I did a Royal Caribbean cruise to the western caribbean, it was amazing. For differences, I'd look at the websites and you can do virtual tours of the ships, and it also depends on where you are planning on cruising to.

This site lets you read reviews of all different cruise lines, ships, destinations etc..

Personally, I enjoy Royal Caribbean. It depends on the cruise, and your age. My grandparents love princess. I think the food and shows are better on royal caribbean.
