I have only been on one in the Caribbean...so I will give you my slant on things. If you love luxury and being waited on hand and foot and being entertained day and night or just simply laying out by the pool or eating all day or meeting new people this is your place to be
The ships usually have about 2 or 3 spots that they will stop and let you off of the ship to do your thing on land. Then of course you have to get back to the ship before it leaves...or else you are SOL You are also a captive in the ship once it leaves the dock...if you get sick or bored or what ever you are on that ship. If there is a life and death situation, then the Helli can come and air lift you.,
Things are expensive to buy, like just a pop or drink or souvenir etc...pricey. and all of your purchases during the cruise are tallied up for your credit card, no cash deals, so watch your spending, it can add up sometimes and surprise you There are meds or things that you can do to combat sea sickness. Tips and gratuities are all expected and suggested $$ at the end of the trip to all of the ones that waited on you. I am not a luxury kind of person, although it was nice to be there once, but I was really get to get back on land once off the ship for good, it took me a week to get my land legs back. |

Pros
- You probably won't get the "just a couple more days" feeling when the cruise is over, like you might with a one-week cruise.
- You'll get a second chance to do those activities, excursions, etc. that you missed the first time around.
- You'll really form a good relationship with your wait staff (waiters, stewards, etc.), as well as other staff and passengers.
Cons
- Much more expensive
- You'll be spending a lot more during the cruise.
- If you're prone to weight gain, you'll really have to watch yourself.
- You'll have to take two weeks in a row off from work or school. |

It's just the best way to enjoy a holiday.
A swipe card is given to you on arrival that is used as a 'key' to your cabin and for anything you purchase on ship. All food is included although a couple of the restaurants may have a small charge [think this is tips]
On a two week cruise last year I only spent £500 [you pay at the end on your credit card] that was mainly at the bar, then I bought a load of dutyfree cigs and a watch in that.
There's loads to do and it's not possible to get bored |

We went on a 15 day transatlantic cruise from Spain to Texas and it was wonderful. We spent a week between London and Barcelona first. I think the only con would be what to pack. We left on November 30th and returned on December 23rd. The weather in London was cold, but as we cruised, the weather got warm, plus we dressed up more on the cruise. I think we packed to much clothes. I think next time I will pack less and do laundry service. Two week cruises are great. Lots of time for sight seeing and relaxation. Have a great time. |

I have been on 3 cruises that were 14 days and a couple that were 12 days. The chances are that you will not be able to find a two week (14 day) cruise doing exclusively the Caribbean. Most of the Caribbean cruises are 7 days and if you do a Panama Canal cruise it may be 9, 10, or 12 days, depending on where it departs from. You can do a longer cruise that may be 14 days in the Caribbean then through the Panama Canal and with some Mexico stops and then ending in California.
The pros as I have experienced them:
You have to like a relaxing time and the opportunity to see a lot of different places. Sometimes it takes a longer cruise to see all of the places that you want and it's cheaper to do one long cruise than to fly back again to get those other ports and places that you wanted to see. Good example is the Mediterranean cruises which can be seven days or longer ones of 12 or more days. It's more expensive to fly back to Europe than stay a longer time when you are there; same with the Caribbean. You have a long vacation that you unpack for and then have days of enjoyment. It's more enjoyable if you are on a newer ship with a balcony and on a ship with lots of activities; a ship that you like.
The cons as I have experienced them:
It's harder to pack for 2 weeks vs a one week cruise. It';s a toss up between bringing enough clothes for two weeks vs having laundry service or doing laundry yourself. Packing for two weeks in the Caribbean is easier than packing for 2 weeks in Alaska or the Baltic because the colder climate requires bulkier clothes and take up more room in your suitcase. The longer cruises CAN be tiring if you try to see all of the things that are available and there are not "at sea" days separating some of the port stops. For example, we went on a 12 day Mediterranean cruise (actually two of them) and there were port stops the first 3 days of the cruise in places that we did not want to miss. Imagine a cruise that stops in Florence/Pisa and not getting off the ship to go see the leaning tower. Or your ship stops the very next day in Civicevechia (for Rome) and not taking an all day tour to see Rome. On our 14 day cruise to the Baltic we had a port stop almost every day for the first week.
The two week cruise means more costs for gratuities and now also for the "fuel supplement".
In spite of how what I have written may sound, I enjoy cruises and do have two 14 day cruises booked right now. And I have no second thought about them being too long or boring. And that's because I enjoy the "at sea" days and the opportunity to just grab my book and find a quiet spot on deck and enjoy the sea. |

Two weeks would be great. I have been on 7, 10, 14, and 29 day cruises. My favorites were 10 to 14 days. One week is just not long enough and the 29 day cruise was too long and had too many sea days. A great cruise that does hit both Mexico and the Caribbean is the Panama canal cruise and during the school year, you will not get too many kids on this one. |

Pros:
- It would be fun and maybe relaxing
- You'd get to see new places and travel
- You'd have the experience with you for the rest of your life
- You may get a tan
Cons:
- You may get sunburn
- It is pretty expensive
- It is not the best investment (ex. spending $2,000 on a cruise vs. spending $2,000 on home improvements)
- You have to get your boss to give you 2 weeks vacation without any penalties (or resentment from management).
- You could have bad weather the entire time
- If you have a pet, you probably have to board them ($$$) |

my guess is, as much as you like food, and as often as you pose restaurant-based questions, and as plentiful as food is on these cruise ships, you will gain at least 28 lbs in 14 days----enjoy! |
