Question about when prices lower for Royal Caribbean.? |
I booked a cruise for March of 09. If the price for the balcony drops and I call them they will give me the lower price. Still waiting.... lol.. When do the prices normally drop? I booked this one pretty early because it is for my honeymoon. Anyone have any type of timeframe for when they lower them? It is for the Independance of the Seas and one of their only Caribbean cruises before it heads back to England. Do you think they will drop it at all or go up? Thanks in advance. |

When you book early you will likely always get the lowest price that you will ever get for that cruise. If the price drops you have to watch it on the cruise line web site and call them in order to get the reduction. They will not call you. But the only way the price is likely to drop is if the cruise DOES NOT sell out, or sales are very slow to the point where they need to stimulate more customers.
I book a RC cruise for this month about a year ago and noticed recently that the price has been reduced. I called them and they gave me a sob story about the reduction not being that much for me since I had a seniors discount and an early booking discount, and the cancellation fee would reduce my refund if I canceled and re booked at the lower rate. Now I recognized all of that as a crock and started watching the price of my cruise closely so that when the day came if they didn't give me a discount they would here from me. Well guess what, a couple days ago I looked at my reservation and they had not reduced my price and refunded/credited me, but they had bumped me up to a suite selling NOW at the price I had paid for a balcony. So, I'm about 90% satisfied and I'll see how the cruise goes before I go to 100%.
As for your cruise, the only way the price will drop is if the cruise does not sell out. |

Our agency watches the prices and our customers automatically get the lower price (within some promotional limitations). You will probably see the prices for that cruise change over the next 9 months - you were smart to book early. I've had cruises that I've booked for myself a year ahead go down $600 (but that's very unusual).
If you book directly with the cruise line, you need to call and ask for the lower rate.
Some times the prices you see on line or in news papers are special prices for "new bookings only".
If you see a lower price, always call your Travel Agent. |

I think if you were to call them and fight for the price lowerage then they probably would. But I doubt they do drop them for the Indepence of the Seas because that hasn't even had its first go yet. And most people will probably be booking like crazy to get on it and to have Balconys. Usually balconys go fast and are completley sold out by the cruise date. But i don't have any idea when they drop if they do. Your best bet would be to keep checking the site prob. the closer it gets to the sailing date the quicker they want to sell all the rooms so check when it gets closer! Hope you have a great Honeymoon. God bless your marriage! |

When you book a cruise, you agree to the price at the time of booking, prices may fluctuate, but you can't then call them and ask them to honour the lower price!
For the Independence, prices are not likely to drop, 4* cruise lines rarely reduce prices, in anything, prices go up!
So you were probably better off booking early. |

I never book early, and I never book Balconies! I also never pay more than 299 for a 5 day cruise.
We are only in our rooms to shower/change clothes, sleep, or take a quick nap out of the sun.
There is just to much to see, do, & eat on and off the boat than hang out on an EXPENSIVE balcony.
Always wait till last 30-45 days for best price! |
