Questions about different ports of call in carribean? |
I have been on cruises in the Caribbean before, so i know what to expect. I've never been to these actual ports though and am going on Carnival Victory in July. It leaves from Puerto Rico, and goes to St. Thomas, Dominica, Antigua, St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados. Anyone have any advice on these particular ports or recommend excursions. |

In St. Thomas, you cannot beat Meagans Bay. It is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in my life, and I have been on 7 Caribbean cruises.
Puerto Rico has a really cool fort if you like historical stuff; the walls are thicker than the spread of my arms. The city tour there is a joke though, so don't waste your money.
In Dominica, we went on the tour in the forest to the natural hot spring and waterfall. Though my group got separated from the pack and never made it to the hot spring, I hear that it was wonderful for all who got in. Even missing that, this was one of my favorite tours. The scenery as you hike is breathtaking and I love to look back at my photos from there.
St. Lucia is a lot like Dominica - lush and tropical. I don't think I took a tour there; we just wandered around, but I should have done more.
In Barbados, the port is ugly and dirty. We took a speed boat tour out to a football field sized private island where you could walk out for forever. |

The ship has a number of excursion ready for you.
One of them is "swimming with sea turtles." We swam alright, many many of us from different excursions, but no sea turtles.
Walk through the rain forest in St Lucia was pretty nice. |
