I've got an idea!! Disney has vacation packages that include a cruise and a few days at Disney World!!! The park only would be less expensive than the cruise.

Upside of the Disney Cruise:

Meals are included, as are soda and milk. There are facilities for the kids where you can drop them off. 9am - 1am. They give you a pager and will even take them to meals.

They will meet many, many characters and you can have your photos taken with all of them.

There is an adult pool and several bars where they're not allowed. There are adult comedy shows at night. When the kids are in the club.

Downsides:

There are cheaper cruises which also have kid's clubs. Disney the theme park is a lot of fun. The food at Disney is very expensive, and you're going to need two rooms. Are you driving or flying?

If you're driving, I can recommend a place to stay a few miles from the main gate. You get a townhouse, or an actual house with a kitchen and a washer/dryer. It has a pool - actually a small water park. You'll save a ton on food, and having a place where there are doors between you and the kids is fantastic on a Disney vacation.

I'd take the cruise or stay off-site. Do not spend a week in a hotel room at Disney with your four kids. None of you will be speaking at the end of it.

Disney World is cheaper than a Disney Cruise, trust me I just priced it. But taking a carnival cruise is cheaper than going to Disney World. I love both having done them as often as I can (don't ask, its almost scary how many times Ive cruised or been to WDW this year). Pick what you think the family will enjoy the most.

If you stay at Disney you can get extra hours in the park that are less busy.

If you take a cruise the food is included, it still works out cheaper for a cruise.

Have fun

Disney has a package where you can do both! That way you could experience both and maybe next time you'll just want to do a disney cruise for the length of the trip....

Totally Disney World. Trust me.

Disney World. I took mine last summer. The Disney cruise line is very expensive. Everything you do costs extra.
If you would like to take a family cruise, I suggest Carnival Cruise Lines. They have stuff for your kids ( of any age ) to do and it is included. The extra stuff would be the arcade or using the Internet. They have Camp Carnival available for kids that does lots of activities suitable for the age group that they are in. Good luck.

I am from Illinois and we rented a RV and drove down there and stayed at Wilderness Park for something like $20 a day and got 4 park passes.. we had two adults and 4 kids also and it worked out great. cheap and a great vacation. gas is now is a little bit more expensive now but you really save on the hotel nights. They have a bunch of activities at Wilderness Park at night when you get back from the parks.
