Should I call my cruise line and ask about free upgrades? |
We are just a few weeks away from our cruise date and I have read on a few different travel sites that if you call they may upgrade your cabin for free if they have unbooked staterooms. I generally don't do that type of thing, I prefer to be the non squeaky wheel lol, but if there's a chance we could get a better room I may try it. Has anyone done this before? We are traveling with NCL and have the standard inside room.

Never hurts to ask. They often wait until the very last minute to upgrade. So, if you are turned down on the phone try a day or two before the cruise. And, try again upon embarkation. |

I have been on 20 cruises and have never had the opportunity for an upgrade, probably because we only travel during school holidays (my wife is in education) and every cruise we have been on has been sold out.
You may be lucky and there may be cabins available, one thing is sure, "If you don't ask, you don't get".

Sure, but it's better to wait until about 48 hours before your cruise and it will probably cost you a few bucks but not as much as if you had paid for it right away. |

sure i would call and try. 48 hours before the cruise leaves you might be able to upgrade for a price.
call the cruiseline, it can't hurt.
