Should I take a Disney or Royal Carribean cruise? |
I have a large family for this trip. For Disney, we would take the July 2nd trip and for RC, we would take the July 3rd trip (3-night Bahamas). In one room, we will have 1 adult, 1 sixteen yo, and 1 ten yo. In the other room, we will have 1 adult and 1 sixteen yo. We will use the cheapest room there is (inside rooms) I was wondering if I should take a Disney Cruise or a Royal Carribean cruise. We were already planning to take a Disney Cruise, but I've heard things about RC, so I was curious. If you have any questions, e-mail me or add it in the question and I will answer the next day. Thank you. Additional Details don't forget the sixteen y.o.'s and the adults |

Disney is a cruise line for young children like 10 year olds and younger. I recommend Royal Caribbean. it's a relaxing environment. |

Disney is very expensive! If you are concerned about money then go on R.C. You could get a balcony room on R.C. for what you pay for an interior room on Disney. The kids will love R.C. too, much to do for all of them. They have activities for the teens (disco's, rock climbing wall, and such) , and there will be lots of kids their age to hang out with. For the adults, well, if you want to get away from the kids, there is the solarium, otherwise there is the pool deck, and shows (kids may not want to go to them). Disney has more adult only areas though.
Disney has many activities for the kids too (and its NOT geared towards 10 yr olds). I would choose R.C. because you will have just as much fun on R.C. as you would have on Disney, for less money. |

I would base it on the itinerary offered and the ship itself. The 16 yo is virtually an adult. I doubt he is going to hang with the youth groups anyway. The 10 yr may enjoy the Disney characters or s/he may feel s/he is way too old for babyish stuff.
Either way, cruises are an enjoyable experience. You are getting an interior cabin which implies that price is a big concern but you really don't spend much time in your cabin anyway. So which ships are you thinking about? Does one offer more things you are interested in (for example the Flowrider or Rock climbing wall)?
Both will have lots of children so don't worry about your kids not having people their own age. Plenty of that.
But if one is a newer ship, that would be a point in its favor to many people. If one is going to the Bahamas and private islands, but the other is going to St Thomas, I'd go to St Thomas any day. Look over the list of shore excursions offered. If Royal Caribbean offers one that just sounds amazing, that might be the selling point. I know I'm about to go on a Holland America cruise and I've been amazingly disappointed at their lack of shore excursions compared to RC and Carnival. It really is for old people--not a single snorkeling, kayaking, hiking the rainforest option there at all.
But as far as overall enjoyment I don't think Disney or Royal Caribbean will be that much different. You'll have a great time either way. But if you email me the itinerary of the two ships, I'll come back and edit this answer. To me itinerary is the most important factor on a ship I pick. |

ive nv been on a royal carribean cruise but i can still say go on disney. They give you better deals and give you more for your dollar. Also disney cruises arent jus for children 10 and younger. although there are disney characters that your young ones are sure to love you will two. im 15 and the disney cruise was my first cruise (ive been on 5) and my favorite. if its anything like i went on you eat at a different diner everyday so it not the same thing everynight like on some cruises. there is a lot of fun things to do like for your 10 yo there are secret passageways that the kids walk through to make it fun and mysterious. for the 16 yo there are clubs and games and everything they would want to do at home but with new friends. For the adults there are lots of things to do (but i was 8 so i cant tell u wat they r). (me) and my mother still want to go again but this time we'll bring my little cousins! |
