Sneaking back alcohol through customs from a cruise? |
how does the security check your bags and if you put alcohol in a different bottle such as a mouthwash bottle will they still be able to find it?? |

If you are a US resident, I don't think there's any law about bringing back alcohol... unless you're under age of course. Customs is pretty smart, and inconsistently thorough in their checks. One guy they'll dig down deep, the next guy they'll just barely take a glance... so, nobody can really tell you just how probable it is that you'll get busted. They do in fact have dogs, but, I don't know if they are sensitive to liquor or not... if they are, a dog will be able to smell alcohol in a mouthwash bottle unless you are the most meticulous person ever at ensuring a good seal and that none of the alcohol leaked out at all.
The real answer is:
You don't have to sneak back alcohol if you are of age. However, there's a certain amount of alcohol per person that you can bring back without having to pay the taxes on it. I brought back a huge bottle of parrot bay and some other stuff and didn't have to pay any extra, but I've heard of people having to pay $10 or so for a lot more alcohol.

It's better to declare it on your customs forms and have to pay extra, than to have customs find it and fine you.
If you're underage, don't bother. |

probably not unless say mouthwash is suposed to be blue adn the alch is white they might notice, if if its not closed properly they might smell it which will make them search harder |
