St. Thomas and St. Maarten or Cozumel and Jamaica? |
For those of you who have cruised before, which island pair is more safe, clean and pretty to visit.

I definitely liked St. Thomas and St. Maarten over Cozumel and Jamaica. St. Maarten and St. Thomas feel safe and are easy to get around. There is good shopping at both. The beaches are beautiful in St. Maarten and St. Thomas, as is the rest of the scenery. I felt very nervous in Jamaica, especially if you try to explore on your own and not on a shore excursion. I would recommend only going with an organized group around Jamaica. Actually, where the ship docked in Jamaica, it is fenced in and there is security. If you leave the fenced area on your own, you are immediately in an area where you will approached to buy drugs and there is a worry for your safety. My husband and I were pursued down the road by a guy insistent on selling us drugs - very scary. Cozumel felt safe enough, but I found the salespeople so pushy that it wasn't enjoyable. |

they all have there problems. St Thomas has some problems from what I could remember, but both were real nice places to visit. Now I love Cozumel but hated Jamaica, Jamaica they try to rip u off, and it is real dirty to me. It does have some beautiful spots but to me it was not worth it, and I would not go back. |

Be sure to visit the Virgin Islands Candle Company, they have the best smelling banana daiquiri candles on the planet! |

definately st. thomas and st. marteen....no questions asked
jamaica is like dirty and theres drug dealers all over the place...
cozumel is nice but it doesnt beat st thomas....if you go to st. thomas i recommend going to Megans Bay...its gorgeous...and st. marteen has a nice rainforest..etc. |

Ive been to st. thomas, st. maarten and cozumel...all three were amazing, clean, safe, and lots of shopping ! I haven't been to jamaica. |

St. Thomas and St. Maarten are cool places, but personally, I think Cozumel and Jamaica is better. I went on the Ocho Rios/Costa Maya/Grand Cayman cruise on Carnival's victory back in 06. I'm going again this month on the 28th on Carnivals Liberty. St. Thomas and Maarten mat be more safe but the other two are more fun and more enriched in culture. If you choose to go to Jamaica, check out the Dunn's River Falls. Have fun. |

i went to the eastern caribbean(thomas and maarten) in the summer or 07 and it was soooo clean and peaceful i loved it,
im going to the western in a month and going to cozumel and jamaica, so ill see how that goes:} |
