Swine Flu & Cruise-Is anyone else worried?

I'm supposed to be leaving Saturday for my cruise. It was supposed to be a 5 day to Progresso & Cozumel. They've changed it to a 7 day to Fla & the Bahamas. Should I be worried about the flu being on the boat or am I overreacting??

You should be OK. They do sanitize the ships. Just keep washing your hands, etc. The ship I was just on had hand sanitizer at the entrance to each restaurant. They also have medical personnel on board. You might check with your doctor; he may give you something to take with you or make additional suggestions. Have fun!!!

All cruise ships take precautions because of the possibility of viruses on board, so I suggest you take some hand wipes with you and use the ones the ships have, a lot more then usual. The WHO says the best way to not get the flu is to be diligent with washing your hands. Just remember the flu has been around for 100's of years. This flu really is no different then any other flu except people did not get shots for this one.

You should be alright. I am going May 30th and I am a little scared, but I'm just telling myself to be overly cautious! No shaking hands and no touching people and lots and lots of hand sanitizer!

Damn, you got a good deal!
I wouldn't be to worried. The ships are very careful in cleaning and sanitizing everything. Bring hand sanitizer, and maybe some tamiflu just in case. Other than that, don't worry too much. The swine flue is really not that bad.

They always sanitize the ship when these situations occur. The fact that the cruise has been rerouted is a safety precaution. I wouldn't be too pressed about it. They have guidelines that must be adhered to. If you are really concerned call the cruise line and tell them so. They should be pretty good about working with you! Good luck!

I'm leaving to go on a Carnival Cruise in about 3 weeks and I was also worried about that. I don't know what to tell you. :(

Thats hard to answer. I don't know how safe it would be, but I for one, would not go. Be safe
