Most ships are classified at least close to 5*. All cruise lines treat you like royalty. Food is great and included in the cost, but plan on extra money for drinks, tours and tips.
There are some Bahama cruises and some Mexico cruises you can get for 3, 4 or 500 dollars. They all depend on how many days, where they are going and which cabin you book. Check out each cruise line to see what they offer. Carnival is generally where you will find the most budget-wise cruises. |

Well, 5 stars and budget don't usually go hand in hand, but I can help you get as close as possible.
Budget is Caribbean or Bahamas for 3, 4, or 7 nights for the destination and best price. Or, you can do Mexican Riviera for 3,4, or 7 nights.
The number of nights you'd like to do varies the quality of the ships. Shorter cruises are done mostly by Royal and Carnival, and they use their older ships for these Bahamas or short Caribbean cruises.
Want a better ship, do a 7 night.
Princess is a Premium cruise line in which I reccomend alot because of the quality of the ship, and the affordable price during slower seasons(any time kids are IN school).

YOu can go to the Caribbean, or Mexico, or through the Panama Canal all during the winter. Also Hawaii. For a beautiful cruise line, I would go with Princess. |

To cruise on a budget, I would consider vacationstogo (especially the 90 day ticker) and crucon. Your money will get you a lot more cruise if you avoid crusing over x-mas and new years. If you are looking for luxury, consider an inside stateroom on HAL or Celebrity as opposed to a balcony on Carnival or NCL-- the room will be SMALL, but service and food will be superior.
If you have budget flexibility and want adventure, our favorite 7 day cruise was the one that goes from FL to the Panama Canal (but not through it-- you can do a partial transit on a shore excursion) and Costa Rica and back. On the other hand our favorite carribean islands are: St. Martin, Barbados, St. Lucia and Aruba. If you are on the west coast, it may be cheaper for you to do the Baja Cruises that leave from LA/San Diego. |
