Turning 18 while on a cruise? |
I am going on my second cruise to the Caribbean this summer, and I am excited to be turning 18 on the second day of it. I was looking forward to trying gambling, clubs, and the drinking age on the islands. So will they allow me into the clubs and casinos when I turn 18, because I heard somewhere that they go by how old you are when you board the ship. But I figured since your birthday is on your card?... also do they do anything special for birthdays? |

They will most likely go by your boarding age. However, if you possibly present your regular ID, maybe your drivers license, you may be able to get them to admit you. Keep in mind that even though you are in international waters, you will still be under U.S. laws while on board the ship, so the drinking age will still be 21 there. They do in fact do stuff for birthdays, but what is the fun of me telling you? I'm going to keep it a secret. Have a great birthday. |

Usually they go by the age you are when boarding.. if you turn 21 on a cruise you cannot get drinks from the bar.. they treat you as a 20 yr old the whole cruise.
I would guess 18 would be the same. |

On the ship they go by your boarding age
On land, as long as you have your ID you should be allowed in. |

Cruise lines tend to rely on the age you are at the date of your reservation. It doesn't matter if you have a birthday on the cruise or not. They will use your reservation to determine how old you are. |
