On a lot of ships, if you're at least 18 you can have beer and wine once the ship reaches international waters. But you could always have one of your 21+ friends buy you drinks. Don't make it obvious though, or you could both get in trouble. My cousin and I are 18 and we had a friend buy us drinks in the theater (where it's dark and no one would notice anyway). If you're gonna do it, just be smart about it.

Also, a lot of the ports have drinking ages of 18. Check and find out, and then have drinks while on the island.

How about not doing it?
Obey the frickin law

Obviously some of these have not been on a cruise. You are assigned a new "id and credit card" at boarding, so that you do not have to worry about carrying your real ones with you. One card does both.

But, you very well may not be underage on the cruise, you need to ask. At a US port you probuly are, but other ports and at sea the age is 18. As you did not mention where you are cruising it is hard to say. That information would be available from your travel agent.

Tips?

How about not asking them to break the law?

It's just as illegal for them to get it for you as it is for you to have it.

Cruise lines have great ways of knowing if you can buy a drink. Encoded on your room key is your age and picture. When you request to buy a drink they take the card and swipe it. If your friends are caught giving you drinks they can have their cards blocked also.

And the law on ships is 21. You might as well just drive to Mexico or Canada.

All I know is they constantly card you if you look around 21/ I am 25 and constantly got carded. I had to carry my ID around the deck all the time when I was on the deck and wanted a drink...it really sucked....They should just give out wristbands.

In international waters, the drinking age is 18. In ports, it is whatever the country's legal age is. You can drink on the ship while you're not at port! yay!!!

On NCL ships it's 21 but with written parental consent people 18 years and older can have beer or wine.

Most cruise ships on the US law in terms of drinking age. You will need to be 21 however you may be able to drink while on an excursion if that countries law permits. Many people spend more money on their alcoholic drinks on the ship than they spent on the cruise itself. I'd rather cruise twice than once and not remember it. Also drinking is considered to be the prime reason why passengers fall overboard and are never heard from again. If are able to get alcohol drinks, do it responsibly.

It really depends on the rules of the cruise line, and where you physically are. Once you are in international waters (I think 200+ miles off the coast) you're limited to whatever the cruise line will allow.

If you're inside international waters, then it's the rules that govern that country (unless the rules of the cruise line are stricter than those of the country).

Don't break the rules, but at the same time utilize any and all loop holes.

one way would be to have one of your friends buy the drink then bring it to you. another way would be to just try to order the drink if they ask you for your id tell them you left it in your room. the last way would be to get a fake id.

they probably won't ask you for ID but if you're worried about it, have your friends order the drinks.
