Hi. I am going on The RCL's Voyager of the Seas in 4 weeks. I will be 16 weeks pregnant and I am a little worried b/c I have never sailed on RCL. I am needing some detailed answers. Thanks.

2. I have a Deck 8 Promenade Room--How nice are they, what is included in the room, etc?
3. Do I have to purchase a juice card? What beverages are complimentary?
4. What are some of the best onboard activities for me?
5. Are there any good excursions that would be easy on my body?
6. Do I need to inform anyone in particular of my pregnancy once onboard?
7. How is the medical staff onboard?
8. If you have stayed in a promenade room please give your input.

1. What are the best routes to everything from fwd rooms? - they have elevators and stairs all over the place, gets a bit confusing at first but you learn quickly.
2. I have a Deck 8 Promenade Room--How nice are they, what is included in the room, etc? - just like a hotel room, no iron though. We brought our own ! I only saw the promenade rooms from the outside but to me it seems like those rooms would have to deal with noise all the time because the promenade was always full with folks.
3. Do I have to purchase a juice card? What beverages are complimentary? - juice is free, if you want soda you have to purchase a card, but you can always purchase soda when you're on an island and bring it onto the ship with you ! You get milk and juice for free. Specialty drinks can be ordered by any staff around the ship and cost differing amounts of money.
4. What are some of the best onboard activities for me? - ice skating show, bingo, comedy shows.
5. Are there any good excursions that would be easy on my body? - the shopping excursions and city tour excursions.
6. Do I need to inform anyone in particular of my pregnancy once onboard? - each cruise line has their own rules, you will have to look into that.
7. How is the medical staff onboard?- they have a trained doc on board but cruise ships follow their own guidelines and rules and most of the time it's a foreign trained doc (95% of the staff is foreign trained, not saying it's a bad thing, just saying regulations are different for cruise ships so look into it, im sure they are capable of handling situations !)
10. Can I get assistance at the pier if needed (my hubby wont be there to tote everything)? - when you get to the pier, there are a number of workers (mostly all men) who ask if you need help and ofcourse you have to pay them. |

Your travel agent should be helping you with these questions. That is why you use a travel agent. Don't overpack. You don't need much. Many people wear the same clothes more than once. Medical staff is excellent. The doctors are well qualified for most anything that could come up. Promenade cabins are awesome. You can set in your cabin and watch the parade and other activities without being crushed in the crowd. |

The on board medical is charged to your Sea Pass. I would certainly take our travel insurance. Then all your medical is covered. The only drinks that are extra are alcohol and pop. You can purchase a soda fountain card. Juices are inclusive. Room service is inclusive too. You don't need to pack shampoo, cream rinse or a hair dryer. Those items are provided. There are many on board activities that aren't strenuous. Ask at the purser's desk about pier assistance before going ashore.

Just one note. Be sure to read the info RCL sent you about pregnancy's. I know Princess doesn't let you cruise unless you are less then 24 weeks pregnant. I'm sure you have read the rules, but just in case, do so. |

Q: What is Royal Caribbean's policy on cruising while pregnant?
A: Royal Caribbean International cannot accept guests who will have entered their 24th week of pregnancy by the beginning of, or at any time during the cruise or cruisetour. A physician's "Fit to Travel" note is required prior to sailing, stating how far along (in weeks) your pregnancy will be at the beginning of the cruise and confirming that you are in good health and not experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. The "Fit to Travel" note should be faxed to the Access Department at 1-954-628-9622. Please contact us at 1-866-592-7225 or at special_needs@rccl.com if you have already booked a cruise or cruisetour and do not meet this requirement. |
