We're going on an Alaskan?

We're going on an Alaskan cruise and want to take some of the excursions but the cruise charges are sooooooo expensive. Can you take those same excursions without going through the cruise ship as I imagine they wouldn't be as pricey.

Thanks.

Shore excursions are expensive when booked through the cruise line. If you book the shore excursion through the ship and for some reason the excursion is late returning to the ship the ship will wait for you. If you book through something other than the ship and its late you may miss the sailing of the ship. That said here is a web site you can look up shore excursions and book them on line.

We would be more than happy to help you at the web site listed below

Have you booked your trip already ?if not you may get a deal from a discount site and have enough left to explore and if you have booked already you can take the boat that takes everyone ashore and most all the tour people and excursion companies are right there or real easy to find and ask around before you get to port and get some ideas from people going on excursions and maybe you can get a group together and get group prices.

They are expensive through the ship, but they are also excellent tours. They guarantee them, like if the weather turns bad, they will refund some of your money. Also like the other answer said they will wait for you if you are running late, but not wait if you are out on your own. I have seen people miss the ship just about every cruise I have been on. Then they have to pay big bucks to fly to the next port. I usually book the real special excursions with the ship and go on my own always being aware of time. My favorite shore excursion to Alaska was taking the white pass railroad. This was very special and did book it through the ship.

Yes you can. Going through the cruise ships just makes it easier for you to book excursions before you arrive at the port.

Beforehand, you can look up companies that take you out on excursions and call them yourselves from the cruise ship. It will be cheaper that way.

I went on an Alaskan cruise a couple years ago, and it was absolutely beautiful! Have fun! =)

I am going on a cruise today, the dawn princess. You don't have to, you can talk with your travel agency. that is what i did. they really are expensive,
