Well without a whole lot of information from you such as age and what type of activities or environment you are looking for, it is tough to make a strong recommendation. I took Princess and they seem to be the leader for Alaskan itineraries. The age group was probably 50s-60s for the most part, but I'm not sure that was Princess. There were NCL and Royal Caribbean ships in port and they seemed to have a relatively same age grouping, although I think RC's group was a little younger.

Whichever you choose, I would suggest a land tour package as well if you can afford it. It usually adds 2-3 days in front or on the back of the cruise. You usually travel by rail in glass domed cars through the interior of Alaska while stopping at lodges along the way. The scenery during the rail trip was incredible and was the most rewarding part of the trip for me. If you do a land tour, I would suggest doing it before the cruise. The reason being you are usually carrying around some of your baggage with you. The group traveling north looked a lot unhappier than our train going south. I think after a week of being pampered on a cruise, its a little tiring riding on buses and rails and lugging around a bag with you. At the beginning of the trip you are still energized and even if you are tired after the 3 days riding through Alaska, you have a week to recover on the ship!

May be you will get some ideas. Click on the link "Alaska Fishing Lodges" in the website referred below.

Actually, the detail matter a lot. They will determine the cost, which ship is best, etc. Alaska cruises book up fast, as the season is so short, and they are fairly expensive, especially given that you will most likely need to leave from and return different ports.

You need to do some reading about cruises, decide which "details" DO matter, and then contact a travel agent who has experience with cruises. There are books at your library or bookstore which will be very helpful.

Good luck - hope you find just the right cruise for you.

check out NCL - they have a nice program to Alaska and right now are offering free on board credit.

You haven't given us much to work with, your interests, your budget, how many people, your age, desired port of debarkation (where you want to sail from), length of cruise, interests in shore excursions.

It costs a lot more for per person, for one person to go on a cruise by themselves than it cost per person for two people. It could cost you the same as two people, so try to arrange to go with somebody.

For some ideas, you can check on various cruise offerings at:
www.TravelConnectionsLLC.com
click on cruises and look for the Alaskan packages.
