I like lots of ships from each line. Each line offers something different, it depends on what you like what you are wanting, price, etc. But for me it would be:

Budget Line: Royal Caribbean. They offer great rates so most people can afford it, but they don't sacrafice the quailty of the cruise to offer a lower priced vacation. My favorite ship is probably Voyager of the Seas, but I'm still waiting on Freedom of the Seas! Sometimes, not always, Royal Caribbean will actually end up being lower, you just need to keep an eye out.

Moderate Line: Disney, hands down. One of the best cruise lines in the industry and prices aren't bad at all. Of their two ships, I would say the Magic is my preference, just because it offers the longer cruise.

Luxury Line: Probably Celebrity. They are all pretty good, but I think celebrity is just one notch above the other luxury lines as far as food and such. I kind of like the Celebrity Xpedition the best, but they are all pretty nice

As stated, it depends on what you are looking for.

If I just want to get away and have fun, it's Carnival.
If I want to relax, be papered a bit and enjoy a nice mix of shipmates it's Royal Caribbean.
If I need an ego boost, and total pampering it's Celebrity.
If I want the worse possible trip, and something to scream about it's NCL.

With in each line there will be different sizes of ships, this will also effect the cruse. Smaller ships may not offer as many amenities, but the feel of the ship is much more warmer.

Another thing is no one likes to talk about is the cheaper the cruise, the more likely you are to travel with some 'Ugly Americans'. You can find these folks most anywhere, but I've noticed over the years they show their faces on the cheaper cruises more often. More than once I've wanted to get up and throw them overboard, or at least give them a good verbal lashing.

BTW if you are not familar with the term "Ugly American" it has nothing to do with looks, but personality.

As to my coment on NCL, they changed ownership a few years ago, and there service has dropped noticeably. I gave them 3 tries since the change, and will most likly NEVER use them again. Taking a NCL crusie is like riding a bus vs. an airplane, yes it will get you there, but...

It depends on your tastes. I have been on the Celebrity Millenium - a very classy ship, good for adults. Carnival ships are known as party ships. Carnival and Disney cater more to children.

I went on the Carnival Fascination to the Bahamas for my honeymoon. We had a blast. It obviously wasn't the fanciest ship, but it was a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. My brother and his wife went on the Sapphire Princess to Alaska. This is a new ship and they had a wonderful time.
