In this case go in the back, as high as you can.
(yet, watch that you do not have the dining room - and behind that the galley right above you)
If you want, tell us the ship, so we can look at a deck plan.
EDIT:
Upper or Empress Deck would be the best.
If you cannot get that, there is only the Rivera Deck really, since if you go on Main you will have the Galley and Restaurant over your head.
In the aft you will not hear much anchor dropping - but certainly in the front.
In the aft you will head the engine and the props.
In the front you hear the anchors, the bow thrusters and you have the most movement. |

If you only could pick from front and back, go with the back. You'll hear the engines depending how low you are but your room will rock much less than the front.
If you can pick anywhere, go for the middle. |

closer to the middle is best
get a ruler balance it on your finger let it rock
see how much the front and back rises and falls see how the middle is still?
go for the middle |

People all over the internet and people that I know that have gone on cruises before say that the back of the ship is much better than the front. In the fron you can really feel the motion and if the seas are rough then that would be even worse. The back is not better than the middle, but if you have no choice than I would choose the back before I chose the front. Hope you have a nice cruise =] |

The back will have less movement, but the possibility of noise from the engines, depending on how high you are. The front is generally quieter -- until they cycle an anchor! My personal preference is the far front, but I happen to really like the movement of the ship, which in the front is a lot of up and down, particularly on the open seas such as the North Atlantic. If you aren't fond of a lot of movement, get a cabin at the back of the ship. |

Go with the back. The front is where they lower the anchor and it is very noisy for a long time and it is well before time to get up. |

i believe the back is way better and more stuff is on the back!!! Trust me most things are the back.
have a great time |

Neither. I take the ferry regularly between France and the UK, it's about a 5 hours trip, and I can say that it makes no difference.
BUT if you want to know where the best part of the ship is, well, if you are more towards the middle, and at the bottom of the ship, towards the surface, you will feel the sea movement less. |

Front doesn't have the vibrations from the engines. If you have to settle for an aft cabin, try & get a higher deck, then you'll be alright. |

Front cause the back drops the anchor which drops at like 5 in the morning which wakes you up, BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
