The best cruise line is the one that you can get a cabin on at short notice.
Have a look around the cruise line websites and see what you can find, or try a travel agent and let them do the work. If you aren't fussy about where and when you want to go, you can find a deal and cruise to suit. |

First, you need to know that all of the cruise lines have a minimum age requirement that requires that at least one person in each cabin be age 21 or older (on Carnival Cruise line that requirement is age 25). Just so you know when you are searching for a cruise.
The budget cruise line is Carnival; they generally have the cheapest fares and cruise from just about every port in the country. If one of you is age 25 or older then go with them. The next best would be Royal Caribbean as it caters to young people and families with kids. RC has the most on board the ship activities of all of the cruise lines. Things like ice skating, roller blade track, rock climbing wall, and other things.
Another good cruise line would be Norwegian because they cater to young people and also they have very informal cruising wqith their "freestyle cruising"; meaning the dress on ship is informal pretty much all of the time.
Since Sept 11, most cruise lines no longer do last minute in the sense of letting you book a few days before the cruise. A "last minute" will most likely be a couple weeks to a month before the cruise. But, you should go to the web sites for these cruise lines and look for "specials", "hot deals" and other last minute special priced sailings. Many cruise lines have them now due to the economic downturn.

I would say Royal Caribbean International Cruise Line, or Carnival International Cruise Line. These are both great cruises for last minute.

Carnival is like the Walmart of cruises. They are nice, but there are better. However, if cost is a concern, this is the best bang for the buck.
The top cruise lines would be Cunard and Holland America. That is, these are the best of the mainstream cruise lines. There are some really expensive ones like Regent that are top of the line but generally costs at least twice what a regular cruise would cost you.
Lines like Princess, NCL, and Royal Caribbean fall somewhere in the middle. They are all good cruise lines and you'll rarely see a complaint. |

I really feel that Royal Caribbean are the best overall. The ships are newer, bigger, the staff is much more friendly, and the food is like eating in a 5 star resturant 3 times a day! |

haha... sorry but the last two questions in line before yours were asking about when this depression is going to end and talking about how everyone is broke, and here you are going on a 5 day cruise.... lol... |

Carnival is terrible, rude and do not keep promises. My cabin reeked of urine and have a wet floor, and they were horribly rude. I had ruined luggage {and it was new}, shoes and the trip was ruined. They lied about the compensation, the only thing they offered was a fruit basket on my next cruise with them! Apparently they had the toilets overflowing all over the ship and everyone was ill.
Carnival, Holland America and Royal Caribbean, Princess is all owned by the same company. Look into all the people who have been raped, robbed assaulted and gone missing on ships. They haven't done anything until finally the senate passed a law for accountability. Worse, they have been found to clean up crime scenes and claim nothing has happened, or suggested the victim is of a low character. Be aware. I suggest you check out a deal through vacationstogo.com and steer clear of these cruise ships. |
