What activities are offered on cruise ships for toddlers?

And what are the best cruise lines for that. Also where are the kids sleeping if at home they still sleep in the crib?

Show all answers

TINKERTOY ..... the 1 & only
First of all the cruise lines do not let kids cruise free or give a discount for them. But if the toddler is the third person in your cabin, he/she will have a fare that is about 50 percent of that of the first two people in the cabin. AND, you can get a cabin that has two beds that can/will be pushed together to make a queen bad and it can have a sofa bed or you can request a roll away bed. So you can have the toddler sleep in any of these.

As for activities for the toddler, it depends to a great extend on how old he/she is. All of the cruise lines have programs for kids and they have the kids separated by age groups. BUT, most cruise line have these programs (they are free) for kids age 2 or 3 and older. For example, here's a quote from NORWEGIAN cruise line:

A parent or guardian is required to register kids ages 2-17. After registering, kids can participate as often as they choose.

CARNIVAL Cruise Line:

Welcome to Camp Carnival where kids ages 2-11 have their own space, games, paints, crayons, pool area and everything else that young cruisers love. We make sure they have so much fun, they don't even notice they're being supervised. They think our counselors are just big kids. And another plus, from 10 p.m. - 3 a.m. every night we offer great babysitting services.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN Cruise line has more:

Aqua Babies Ages 6-18 Months
Aqua Tots Ages 18- 36 Months
Aquanauts Ages 3-5 Years

They have Fisher Price Playgroups:

Join your 6- to 36-month-old in the fun of Fisher-Price Aqua Babies and Aqua Tots, interactive playgroup sessions developed by early childhood experts at Fisher-Price. Each 45-minute session offers age-appropriate activities that expose children to new experiences while seamlessly combining playtime with learning time.

And then DISNEY has this:
Supervised youth activities are available on the ship from 9:00 a.m. to midnight for children ages 3-12. Children must be age 3 or older and toilet-trained in order to participate.

The United States Public Health Service requires that only children who are toilet-trained be permitted to enter swimming pools and spas onboard cruise ships. Young children who are not toilet-trained are welcome to enjoy the fountain play area near the Mickey Pool. It's designed exclusively for the enjoyment of children wearing swim diapers.

Group babysitting is available for children 12 weeks to 3 years old in Flounder's Reef Nursery, located on Deck 5, Midship. Guests may book babysitting times online in advance of embarkation or may sign up their children on embarkation day. The facility is open for select hours every day. Rates and times are subject to change, and space is limited.

I think Royal Caribbean would provide you the best options for your toddler.

Most cruise lines have cribs that they bring to your room. Make sure to mention this when you book. If your children are still toddlers then Royal Caribbean would probably be the best. Their Adventure Ocean program is great for younger kids so you can just drop them off there to play with all the other kids and you can enjoy some adult stuff.

I can speak for Carnival Cruise Line when I say that they do wonders with the kids. My son was 2 when he went on his first cruise and I was a little skeptical about leaving him with a bunch of people that I did not know but they were wonderful. They did a lot of coloring activities and movies and games like ring around the roses...... they were always entertained. I do believe that they can give you a crib or the attach a railing on the bed that the toddler will be sleeping on. Have fun.

I have been on many a cruise so you can trust me on this one, there are pla rooms where you can take them and there are supervisors and games and they take great care. Of course most of it depends on the cruise line. I do know that royal Carribean and Carnival have them. I havent been on any other but im sure they have it too. Hope I could help!!!!

ciao
