What advice can you give me about booking a cruise? |
I would like to go on a cruise with my parents. But my dad said it will be boring being on a ship for 7 days. But I don't mind. I have Spina Bifida. I can walk but not far. What advice can you give me about booking a cruise? Additional Details My dad says that we will never go for a cruise because it is way too expensive. I even told him that sometimes they will offer cruises that are around $300 per person but he and mom don't believe me and said that is still expensive. |

You can go to the actual web page for each cruise line and look at the individual cruises. They will give you actual pricing and everything.
I don't know too much about Spina Bifida but perhaps you should also double check the ports of call for each cruise. If it's docked then you will be fine, but if they need to use tenders(small boats) to get everyone ashore, you may want to go on a diferent cruise. ( there are hundreds available.
Also once you've read the web pages come back to answers and ask anythng else that comes to mind
My first cruise I found boring, but I booked our second cruise 2 days after we got home. I've now been on over a dozen. Our longest was 3 weeks.
Get as much info as you can then talk to your dad again. and if he has any questions this is a good place to ask them.
I've been on a dozen, but there are people that have been on over a hundred. Good luck and maybe we will see you on board. |

I love Princess cruises. But all the major cruise companies are great. Tell you dad that a cruise is anything but boring. They have many activities during the day while at sea. Then when you are in port you can choose to go on a wonderful shore excursion or just explore on your own. As far as having Spina Bifida, a cruise is the perfect way to travel for you. You just let the cruise company know in advance that you have Spina Bifida and they will take care of any special needs that you may have. Scooters and wheel chairs are always allowed on a cruise ship. I know that both you and you dad would LOVE cruising. |

It's not boring. They keep you busy. It's so cheap these days: http://cs.cruisebase.com/cs/forms/cruiseresultsPage.aspx?CD=-1&DF=5/1/2009&DT=8/31/2009&CL=6|9&CV=-1&ships=-1&ports=-1&sort=10&SN=false&MT=false&ZP1=-1&ZP2=&PC=&Phone=&Home=http%3A//www.ytbtravel.com/&EO=false&Ref=BS&PIN=YTB418748&LID=&look=&template=&AG=256&ADV=&PSL=Y&logo=&branch=&GroupOnly=false.
I've seen a lot of people on the ships on wheelchairs, scooters, even with oxygen tank. |

1st of all, decide where you would like to go. Then check out the cruise lines at their websites. They usually tend to have the best deals.
As for your physical challenge, some cruise ships are equipped with handicap accessible cabins They also allow scooters, wheelchairs, etc. Although some areas might be more difficult to get into than others, however, the cruise staff is always willing to help out and assist when and where needed. Notify the cruise line ahead of time of any special needs you have and they will help you figure out what is best for you.
As for the boring factor, your father couldn't be more wrong. Think of it as a way to have a couple of mini-vacations. Depending on the destinations, you get a chance to see a couple of different countries or cities that you have never been to before.
The ships are loaded with activities. From food and wine tasting, classes on food prep, virtual golfing and miniature golf, swimming pools and spas, theaters (movies and live), shopping, good restaurants, casinos, libraries, cigar clubs and bowling alleys (NCL Pearl). The list is endless. There are excursions at port that you can choose from (very nice offerings that are sure to entice every one.
Have your father check out the websites on line. There are some real good deals right now and you can customize your cruise to suit your needs.
Good luck and have fun! |

DO NOT let your disability or dad stop you!
Inquire with the cruise lines about accessibility and equipment (wheelchairs) for your needs. They also have elevators on board.
I met a guy and his wife on a cruise and the guy could hardly walk due to severe back injury. He got around with a cane and wheelchair and still had fun.
It sounds more like your dad is making excuses. BALONEY.
Trust me, you won't be bored.
On cruises, boredom is usually the passengers opinion after not partaking in entertainment or just relaxing on the deck with a drink, a deck of cards or a good book, and looking out at nothing except beautiful blue water.
GO HAVE FUN. |
