First of all tell them that if you go along your fare will be half or less than their fare. The third and fourth persons in cabins always get a greatly reduced fare. So if they are paying $1,000. each for their cruise you can go along and stay in their cabin for maybe $300 more. Sometimes its less.

Then tell them that you will not be "in their hair" because there will be kids programs on ship, and maybe even special areas for kids so you can be kept busy and they can do their thing. The kids programs have a staff persons or two assigned to supervise all of the kids in your age range.

Tell them that you love them and would miss them so much when they are gone. So take you along and they will know exactly where you are each day and tell them to get a two-way radio to take along so they can speak to you at any time where ever you are on ship.

Look online and find out what the specific cruise they want to go on has for kids your age. Depending on your age, and how comfortable your parents are with it, there are often things the cruises offer that will keep you out of their hair (and keep you from getting bored!) for the better part of every day.

If they don't want to take you because they want some adult alone time (as a parent I can sympathize) then find out something you want to do and present them to that as an option for you. Maybe a day or sleep away camp....an amusement park that your friend's parents are willing to take you both too...something like that.

They won't have to worry about you burning down the house while you are gone! HA! (just joking, not serious). Perhaps they want to get away on their own. If they have not cruised before let them take the first cruise together and alone. However, if you really want to convince them give them some incentive. What would they like you to do in return for going on the cruise? More work around the house? Study harder? Try to pick something so it is a win-win.

It may not be the kind of cruise you would enjoy. Besides, adults sometimes want to get away by themselves for a romantic vacation. As long as your parents take you on family vacations occasionally, you should probably wish them well and try not to heap on the guilt. Believe me, as the mother of a young adult, I know you will be wanting to go on your own trips soon enough. Teenagers and young adults feel that parents cramp their style.

Have you asked your parents why they want to be alone on a cruise without you? Give them a break...you'll get your chance to go when you've started working and earning your own keep....and you'll obviously appreciate the trip more.

Tell them that its safer for you to be with them instead of home alone. Who knows what trouble you may get into. If something happens to you while they are gone you have no way to contact them. Let them know that cruises have so many activities for kids/teens that you wont have to be around them and they will be able to have their privacy. See if they'll let you bring a friend, offer to pay for a portion of your trip. Try to deal with them, maybe this could be some type of birthday/graduation gift, do something they've been begging you to do in exchange for the trip.

first as a parent that takes my 2 sons on the cruise with us I wish you luck. and some things you should know before that may help you, do do not allow you to be in your own room you will have to be in the same room as them, my boys stay in upper berths. the only exception would be joining rooms but they would automatically have to pay for 2 even is only ones stays in the room.
there is a lot of things for a teen to do on a ship, and they all have programs for every age. I use Carnival and my sons love the clubs and activities for them. This give my husband and I time to ourselves and know they are fine and having fun.

and if all else fails you can remind them that this is family time and they will have all the time in the world to cruise when you are an adult and on your own, that is with way we look at it this is the only time we have with our children at the age they are and I want them to enjoy it too. And a cruise it a great way to see other places and really learn to appreciate what we have too.

Tell them to take you on a carnival. Say that there are supervised activities for the kids all day and that the first two people pay full price for the room and the others are much lower. Tell them to pick the mystery inside cabin that is the cheapest price. You usually get a better deal and I love it. Tell them the foos is free and you will clean your room 4 the rest of ur life/
