You have 3 choices for cruises departing from Galveston.
2 on Carnival and a limited run on Royal Caribbean.
Carnival offers 4 and 5 day itinerary's on the Ecstasy. She visits Cozumel and Progresso. She is a 70 ton ship and starting to show her age. But a good choice for a cruise on a budget. We have sailed her twice.
Carnival offers a 7 day itinerary on the Conquest. She visits Montego Bay, Cozumel and Grand Caymans. She is a larger 110 ton ship and has something for everyone. We have sailed her twice and will return in June for our 3rd sailing.
Royal Caribbean offers a limited number of departures from Galveston on the Voyager of the Seas. She currently visits Rotan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. She departs from Galveston Dec-April. We have not taken the Voyager but we did take her predessor, the Rhapsody of the Seas. We won't sail RC again.
You can compare the offerings at www.vacationstogo.com. Remember, the prices you see are per person, don't include port fees and taxes and are usually for the smallest room.
www.carnival.com also has a new on-line booking tool that allows you to review the pricing based on various cabin options and the screen total includes the total amount.
Our teen/tween love Carnival because they can relax. The 24x7 pizza and ice cream are a big hit, too. |

Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises depart from Galveston.They mostly sail to the western Caribbean, but it will depend on the month and number of days you wish to cruise. I've listed their sites below. Each liner has excellent programs for teens. Some people have said that Carnival is better, but I don't see the difference. And by the way, cruising is an excellent choice for a mother/daughter trip. Have fun! |

I like Royal Caribbean. I have never been on Carnival. I have heard that Carnival has lots of kids and RC has nicer accommodations.
Norwegian usualy sails out of Houston, which is not that far, but I don't see that they are currently sailing from there. I have heard that they have the best food. |

I'm not sure there are any cruise ships leaving Galveston Island. The Island was hit pretty hard by Hurrican Ike last September. Check with a travel agent you may be able to leave from Houston. |
