Carnival has generations of ships. The ships within the same class are the same. They have the same amenities but sometimes they have slightly different decor. It is like having one builder in a community. The decor of the house is different but the floorplan is the same.
The oldest and smallest in the fleet are the Holiday and Celebration. The are about 47 tons and carry less than 1,500 passengers.
The Fantasy class is next. This includes: Fantasy, Ecstasy, Sensation, Fascination, Imagination, Inspiration, Elation and Paradise. This class is 70 tons and carries about 2,000 guests. This class of ship hit the water starting in 1991 or so. This class of ship is showing it's age and Carnival is upgrading this class over the next few years. As these ships are smaller, you feel more motion on these ships than the larger ships. This class usually has the shorter 3, 4 and 5 day itineraries.
The Destiny is only in her class. She is 101 tons and carries just over 2,600 passengers. Slightly larger is the Triumph and Victory at 101 tons, carrying about 2,700 guests.
The Conquest class includes: Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty and Freedom. This class is 110 tons and carries over 2,900 passengers. The ships in this class usually handle the longer 7 plus day itineraries. This class ship provides a much smoother ride than the smaller Fantasy class.
The newest ship, the Splendor is 113 tons and carries over 3,000 passengers.
The Conquest ships have the supper club and a better gym than the Fantasy class. The hallways in the Fantasy class are much more narrow than on the Conquest class.
We took the Ecstasy and the Conquest last year. The menus were the same. |

I've been on several cruises and the difference between various cruise lines is that they cater to different crowds and also there is a price difference and itinerary differences. Some may cater to older people, younger people, families, singles, etc...
Some go to the Caribbean, Mexico, Meditterean, Alaska. It all depends on what you're looking for.
As for Carnival, here is a great website to check:

Cruising is alot of fun. I had a great time on my cruises to the Caribbean. |

In google write the line name, the ship name, and the word review. Each ship has a character of crew, food, entertainment, average age, etc. So scan for what you like -. |

I've been on several carnival cruises, in fact, I just got back from one. There are many ships which are built the same (they call them sister ships) but they have totaly different decor inside no 2 ships are alike. There was only one ship I did not like the layout of and that was Carnival Legend.. I dont know it just wasnt for me. I loved the Valor's layout that was my favorite.
I highly recommend paying the extra bucks to travel for 7 days or more Also pick one the newer ships because obviously everything is new but the staff is WAY WAY better.
My family normaly always goes on the newest ship at the time but this last time we went on an older ship and you could tell the ship had been around the block a time or two, but man the staff just was not up to par... I think they put the newer staff who have not had much experience on the older ships and work them up. Again, just pay the extra money to be on a newer ship it will be soooo worth it.
Also, If you travel in off season months like november or desember even january you can get GREAT rates. Avoid travel in the summer you will be paying big bucks. |

they sail out of different ports - with different routes
price is affected by days on the water/nights
and how many people are booking - the lower the bookings
the better the sale price to cruise!
all the best |

The best would be to go to carnival's web site and take the virtual tours of the ships, also YouTubing them is a very good way to see what they look like. The Spirit class ships have the rose stained glass dome built into the funnel. The Elation is an older ship and has no outdoor deck space on the lobby deck and promenade deck. The Conquest class ships have the largest lido deck that is also inclined on one end like an amphitheater. All Carnival ships have a water slide, soft serve and pizza 24/7. |
