What are the sea conditions when cruising the Mexican Riviera in late March?

I am going on an 11 day cruise from San Fransico leaving late March. How will the seas compare to other places/times of the year? I have only gone on one cruise that was around the Hawaiian Islands and about 800 miles south through the open Pacific. It got quite rough, and I got sea sick. I would love to avoid that experience and plan on taking Bonine, but my cabin is in the front of the ship.

Any experience with wave height in that region at that time of year?

It can be very rough! Anytime of the year!

Therefore, try to lie down while in your cabin when the conditions are rough or go to a public area in the middle of the ship and wait it out. Taking motion sickness medications will help too!

We cruised last March to Cozumel and Progresso from Galveston. We only hit one minor area of rough seas, otherwise it was smooth sailing! I went on the cruise knowing that I could get sea sick, so I got the patch and wore it starting the day before the cruise and all the way through the end. It had really bad side effects though (ie. dry eyes, blurred vision, drowsiness, etc.) so I probably wouldn't take it unless you would rather have all of the side effects of the patch and not sea sickness. Take Ginger root... it's an herb found at most chain stores in the vitamin isle, and it is supposed to help with nassea and dizziness. Also, drink Ginger Ale or bring ginger snaps... I have heard Bonine works great as well, but you still might have side effects with conventional over the counter drugs.

Normally a peaceful time of the year, but there are alway exceptions.

The weather at your ports of call will be in the 80's. The ride over there can be rough on the Pacific Ocean. However, you will be on the Mexican Riviera most of the time where your cruise will be pretty calm. The Riviera is protected by a reef making its waters pretty calm most of the year. This is why you will see an abundance of turtles and tropical fish there year round.
