What do I need to board a cruise ship?

Can I board with just a birth certificate?

depends on where you are going

you will also need a picture ID

but you may also need a passport for some cruises and if they don't changes the date again a passport may be needed for all cruises by July 2008

As of the first of this year you will need a passport. This is really to get back into the United States. Most of the island you visit will require nothing more than a driver's license (or some other picture ID) to enter the country.

Last I heard they pushed back the dates of having passports until June or somewhere mid summer. So as of now, I would definitely recommend having a passport but I know the hassle of trying to get one in time before a cruise and then the cost and its just hectic. I would say that you need your real birth certificate with the raised government seal, and then a photo ID, like a drivers license, and then proof of marriage becuase of your name change, if your married, like your marriage license and you should be good to go.

Passport and your boarding pass.

Beach_bum12
you need your passport.
But it is a good idea the bring a birth certificate just incase you lose your passport.

Grey
No, a birth certificate alone won't do it.
You need a passport.

Starting in 2008, birth certificates no longer will get you on board. You will need to have a passport.
