I've noticed that all cruise ship companies register their ships in like the Bahamas or Panama, etc. Why is that? And what does it exactly mean to when it's registered?...

What does NCL(Norweigan Cruise Line) have going for it?
Carnival has the slide and the general fun atmosphere, Royal Caribbean has the rock wall, so what does NCL have going for them?
Also, is it more of an old-person cruise?
Depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a party ship I wouldn't go with NCL. I'm a big drinker and I like to have fun, but when I went on NCL I felt like everyone was constantly looking down on me. It's definitely an upper-class type cruise. They had a ton of fun things to do with no fun people to do them with. All in all it was a real let down cruise.

Newer ships and freestyle cruising.
right now NCL is also having a pretty good sale with free on board credit.
Good Luck!

NCL is known for "sophistication".
At least by their owners, Carnival.

im in my 30ties and I LOVED IT and been on many lines...it has a slide too and disco's Bars shops etc... the best feature is that you can choose when and where to eat...other cruises you always sit in the same place and seet for dinner and with many strangers at your table

Personally I gotta say nothing. I took one NCL cruise and it was the last one ever (and on Answers I think I'm with the majority that says that). Of course the one I was on didn't have carpet for the bottom 2 floors (we were always saying we were Titanic 3rd class) and I had dorm rooms twice as big as their rooms. It was also the only cruiseline that was stingy with the food.
Yes like Holland is it primarily an old person's cruise. It is also for the antisocial as you don't talk to the same people or same waiter every night. That is always one of my favorite parts of cruising and I usually feel like I'm friends with my table mates by the end of it. We exchange email addresses. So losing that on NCL is not a plus for me.
So I guess one of the advantages it has going for it is that no one takes kids on it and Bingo night draws a really good crowd. Also many people love the freestyle dining in case you just can't wait until 8 for dinner b/c that's your bed time. Also you don't run into people in shorts in the dining room. Older people understand what "dress code" means. And sadly enough, it had the best night club of all the Carnival cruises I've been on. They don't close it down for "teen night" or singles night so all week long anyone under 30 could party. That's all I can come up with for ya.
