I was told I need a specific birth certificate for my cruise coming up but I'm not sure if mine is the correct one or not. Does anybody know what the difference is? I live in Florida. Thanks!

What makes the birth certificate official is the raised seal of the state in which you were born. If you run your hand over it and it does not feel embossed then you will need to get and "official" copy which the city will stamp. You will need this in order to acquire a passport or, if you are traveling the Caribbean to re-enter the United States.

TxJ
Its the one with the raised seal and NOT the one with the footprints.

Tony
It's the one from the county where you were born, not the one from the hospital. I bought a replacement at my county office for $13. It doesn't have a raised seal, but it does have the recorder's seal and signature, and a registered number..

oxymandia
It must look "official," and it MUST have the raised seal of the government agency that issued it.

You need to go to the city hall in the city where you were born and raised in and they will have your long forum birth certifict and it will only be about $10.

You want to have your passport though if your going on a cruise. Most if not all cruises now require a passport.

it has ur state ur name ur sex where u were born ur parents names the date/year/month of ur b-day.
