What does being a Godmother got to do with a cruise ship?
The god mother of a ship is the lady who smashes the champagne against the ship before its maiden voyage to christen it. The Emerald Princess was christened on Mother's Day so they thought that she should have a famous mom or 2 be the godmothers. They chose Marion Ross (of Happy Days) and Florence Henderson (of the Brady Bunch). I heard that if you are a godmother you can sail on that ship for the rest of your life for free. I haven't been able to find any confirmation on that though.

I really don't think the "Godparent" has much to do with the ship. They probably christened the ship before the maiden voyage and maybe took the first cruise but that's about it. Whoopie Goldberg was actually the Godmother of the ship my husband and I went on for our honeymoon, the Viking Serenade. Didn't do much for me though, I don't like her.
