Well, this depends on the storm.
I've been on cruise ships in thunderstorms. Other than the lightning and thunder, I didn't notice it much. If there's lightning, they crew will require you to move indoors for your safety since its a possibility the ship could be struck by lightning. I've been on cruise ships going through a gale. This ship rocked back and forth and some people got seasick, but it was no big deal. Again, the crew limited where you could go outside so that people weren't blown overboard by the wind. I've been on a cruise ship when there was a snow storm. This was really a novelty because most of the crew was from tropical countries and had never seen snow before. The snow quickly melted.
Cruise lines, however, have the safety and comfort of their passengers and crew in mind, and try their best to avoid hurricanes. I know of a cruise ship that sank in a hurricane a few years ago, but it was being moved to a new port and did not have any passengers and only a skeleton crew of about six people on it at the time. All were rescued. Anyway, if a cruise ship is scheduled to make a trip, but there's a hurricane in the way the cruise line will likely (1) change the itinerary and go somewhere else instead, (2) cancel the cruise and re-schedule passengers on another cruise, or (3) shorten the duration of the cruise and offer a partial refund. They won't take passengers into a hurricane, and ships nowadays have the latest in technology so they always know where hurricanes are if there are any. |

Go enjoy life. You are playing in God's sandbox. When he decides you are done playing, it doesn't matter where you are, you are done playing. |

First off, don't worry. There are hundreds of people per cruise line who use their fancy equipment to determine where and when a storm is going to hit in plenty enough time to avoid it. If the ship doesn't change course, that's because the storm isn't bad enough to warrant it. Remember, these are big ships! |

Well, I have been on 3 cruises and we are going on our 4th a week from today. On two of our cruises, there have been pretty bad storms. Luckily, they were at night though. They close the pool, but it is normally closed at night anyways, and you can definately feel the boat rocking, even if it is a big ship because we were on a Voyager class ships during one of them. It is actually kind of fun, except for the fact that one night on our last cruise we went on, we kept hearing this crashing, so we called the percers desk and they said the kitchen was right above us, so that kind of explains it. Other that that, they aren't too bad. they usually try to steer around the storm. There is a mandatory life drill though at the beginning of the cruise, just in case something happens, even though that is very rare. They do everything they can ti ensure the passengers safety. |

I've answered this question before. Cruise ships are like airliners. They have weather radar and will navigate around the storm. They are also in radio contact with their weather center that give them updates to the weather ahead. Most of the time they will avoid really bad weather. But if they can't they will sail into it. But I wouldn't worry cruise ships have stabilizers that keep the ship from rocking to much during rough seas. |

you are in a storm my friend |

The cruise line knows when and what to watch for regarding weather. If a typhoon or hurricane is on course, the ship will take a different route. |

If there's a storm, your captain will make the call on where to steer the boat...so not to worry, he'll do his best to stay out of harms way. The ships are so big that you won't even feel the waves and if it does rain, go inside and shop or head to the casino. You'll still have fun. |

I was on a Carnival cruise last August and the ship went through a minimal tropical storm (borderline tropical depression) as it was leaving one of the ports other than the ship rocking side to side a little it wasn't bad. The crew just had everyone stay inside until the ship got out of the weather. |
